It's not the formation, it's the fact that the QB usually can't set his feet properly with the option fake.

a lot of it can be fixed in the pistol. it's not as effective as coming from under center, but it's better than being in the shotgun.

i just had this tweet pop up regarding the pistol formation. thought it was interesting coming from an expert, i suppose...

RG3 doesn't set his feet properly out of the option either, but it doesn't bite him as much because he hasn't attempted as many throws and his fakes actually merit attention due to strength of Alfred Morris' running.

I wouldn't care if we utilized more pistol looks, but right now Cam usually runs the option out of the shotgun.
