Pro Bowl, Steve Smith

Recommended Posts

Pro bowl matters for the hall of fame? Yeah maybe when it wasn't a joke. Gotta get with the times now and realize the Pro Bowl is now officially the biggest joke ever, and just a huge way for the nfl to make more money

Yeah ok.

"its the biggest joke to me therefor its a joke to everyone ABLOOBLOOBLOO"

Pro Bowls do matter in HOF voting, whether you like to admit it or not.

As great as Smith has been in the past, it's just that the past. There are far too many elite WR in the NFC for Smith to make it in. With proven elite receivers like Megatron, Fitz, Roddy White and V Jax coupled wit the up and coming younger recieves Jones and Bryant, Smith has probably seen the last of his Pro-Bowl appearances.

These guys agree...

LOL I like how you discredit Steve Smith but throw in your own receivers as elite. Yet you aren't a homer..

You're better suited for Smack Central.

i believe if smith really wanted he could easily get in the hall of fame, and if we added a wr who could do what lafell does or better he has even a better chance. The man is 33 still putting up which i will guess 1300 yards and shows only slight aging. IMO he's a T.O. type receiver i could see smith still playing at the age of 37 or past that with cam i just really can't see him getting under a 1k each season for the next three years and if we added another capable Wr he will have a lot of 1 on 1 coverage

He will not get into the hall based on yards, regarless of 3000 or 5000. There is just to many receiver with high numbers today.

Smith is good enough to get consideration, but not good enough to be a lock. So what you need to get in a solid spokesman/core group of hall voting fans (after all the Hall is a popularity contest) and give him/them argument to include you:

A. Smith put up 14000 yrads and xx tds!

B. Well, so did (insert 10 players not in the hall or under consideration)

A. He did it being under sized, playing all over the field, being one of the toughest guys to tackle, also great blocker.

B. He also punched team mates

A. That was stupid, but it does not change his actions on the field, and that was we sub par QBs for most of his career

B. He did get Newton tha last years though

A. Only in his 10th year when he was slowing does due to age

B. My point exactly, next player!

change the last part to

B. He did get Newton tha last years though

A. Yes, and despite being 32 at the time his number picked up Newtons first season and after that he because the best 3rd down target in the league for years.

So in my view, he has a shot but there are still things to prove.
