Chiefs player kills girlfriend at home, then himself at facility (updated first post)

Impressed with most of the posters in this thread. Showing class and genuinely being concerned for those involved.

But, as usual, there are the usual few assholes and morons that just ruin it.

Prayers need to go out for all involved. Being close to anyone who is murdered or even being close to someone who commits suicide is damn tough.

The NFL can't cancel a game. It would open the NFL and the team up to massive lawsuits.

Postpone, yes, but in reality, for only acts of God. (Hurricane Sanday would have been a good excuse.)

First the Season Ticket holders would bring a Class action lawsuit again the NFL and Chiefs. Then the bars, restaurants, hotels/motels would sue the NFL and the Chiefs for loss of revenue. For those who might say that the NFL has deep pockets. The NFL would be in a no-win situation.

The game has to be played. An option would be to change the time.

Lawsuit? Do you even know what you are talking about?

"mu-muh-my right to make a profit. fug you statist scum"

Go to bed Ayn Rand. This is bigger then profits and money.

If the Chiefs want to cancel this game, I have no problem with getting a tie and waiting a week to watch the panthers lose again. In fact I encourage it.

And no ones feeling sorry for Belcher

Like I said, isn't there some rule against personal attacks on this site?

The Chiefs can forfeit if they can't deal with it.

It is a possibility.

Money causes people to do fugged up poo all the time. Granted I'm not a lawyer so I don't know if they have a legal leg to stand on, but if a couple thousand people decided to be assholes at once it could create a pretty big mess.

I am and no lawsuit would be filed over this. If it was it would be dismissed quickly as there is no legal basis for any such claims.

Funny you should say that...

If I were commish, I'd move the game to the weekend after the Saints game and move playoffs and super bowl back a week, but that's just me.

Why not just cancel the rest of the season?

Dummass.

very sad story. my prayers go out to both families. i just cannot imagine me thinking my kids are mine, and than finding out they are not. still does not justify pulling the trigger.

And there's more truth to that than meets the eye. Typically that's what they refer to as temporary insanity or crime of passion. It's tragic but I also don't think it's as black and white as simply calling someone a cold hearted criminal because often times it's not because of a cold heart at all, but quite the opposite. It's easy for all of us to stand here with -somewhat- cool heads and pass judgement on the correct actions....the truth is there are situations in life that can bring anyone to breaking points, and until you find yourself in the heat of the moment, and be in those shoes you really can't say how you could react.

Personally I just hope I'm never in such a situation, because despite me thinking I could maintain control and prevail, it's really impossible to say.

You don't know your limits until someone or something has pushed you up against them.

The truth is, this is all speculation. No one really knows what happened.
