Chiefs player kills girlfriend at home, then himself at facility (updated first post)

Such a tragedy. Not because it involves an NFL player...but because it happened. and, sadly, it happens every day in this country. My heart goes out to the families, and especially the child who now has no parents. Also, the mother and coaches who witnessed the horrible events.

I do understand how people can do this. I also do not understand why there are so many guns in this country and it is so easy to get them.

These tragedies destroy so many lives and reflect on all of us.

The game does not matter, but money will determine what is done about that.

I don't understand how you can possibly delay the game.

I mean what happened was truly horrific and it's very terrible but how do you pragmatically go about changing the time/date of the game?

I know the circumstances were different but the Skins played after Sean Taylor died...

As someone else pointed out, logistically it's not that different from flex scheduling. More rushed, but essentially the same procedures.

Ok so lets say they poatpone the game and give us a extra week of rest going into the Falcons game, Falcons are still playing for a first week bye so wouldnt that give us a unfair advantage having a week off? This isnt high school football, those that say move the game to Wed or Thursday are clueless. You know how hard it is to do that? The most reasonable thing is to move it to 4:15 and give everyone a few extra hours.

This isn't a situation > game issue. Had Crennel and others not allegedly witnessed the suicide would you still be calling for the game to be postponed?

I don't mean to sound insensitive, but if he can't coach they need to name an interim HC. But by all accounts he is at work right now.

I posted this earlier but some may have missed. The KC Chiefs are at work right now.

Lindaman said Belcher’s mother, who was visiting the couple and their 3-month-old daughter, witnessed the shooting and was being interviewed by police.

am i just reading that wrong or is it just a wrong statement, because i keep reading she was killed in front of her mother, but that says his mother was the one who wittnessed it...

I would even argue the Sean Taylor thing is worse because he was murdered, this guy just comitted suicide. Flex it to 4:15 is reasonable, rescheduling it for another day is unreasonable

In front of the head coach, as well as others. And the team trainer is his father.

Right, and look at Joe Philbin and Andy Reid, both lost sons and both coaching the very next season. This is the NFL, maybe at our normal crap jobs they would send us home in cases like this but the NFL is a whole different world

Reports I've seen said it was the victim's mother. Could still be some confusion.

Terrible story either way.
