stewart injured BOTH ankles

Recommended Posts

per rotoworld...

In addition to sustaining a left high-ankle sprain at Philadelphia in Week 12, Jonathan Stewart also re-injured his right ankle.

Stewart missed two of the season's first three games with a right high-ankle sprain sustained in the preseason. His short-area explosiveness and breakaway speed haven't been the same since. Now both ankles are injured. Stewart is still hoping to play at Kansas City this week, which is yet another reason to be skeptical of coach Ron Rivera's "high-ankle" designation. He's yet to practice, however, and appears to be a long shot to suit up.

ouch. how the heck he has been able to play on a single bad ankle is one thing...

i'm curious why the coaching staff doesn't take the john fox approach by keeping him out of practice from here on out but still let him play on sundays.

If I were the GM I would have let Williams (old) walk in FA, traded Stewart (injury prone) for a 3rd, & never signed Tolbert (obese). Our RBs would be Poole & an undrafted FA or two. Money would have been spent in FA on a legit #1 WR (move 89 to slot), best available FS, veteran DT, & veteran OL.

Thanks Marty, you crazy bastärd.

Wow- with the few number of carries hes gotten over the last couple years and he cant seem to stay healthy - you got to wonder about our trainers and medical guys with all the injuries this team seems to constantly have.

Wondering if it isnt time to cut ties with all these old backs and utilize Poole and whoever we can find cheap next year - I guess it depends on who our gm and hc is and what their game philosophy is.

    • Some of you who are not sold on Canales are insane. His main purpose was to turn around Bryce Young’s career and he did that. Of all of the teams in the top 10 of the NFL draft, we were the team that was consistently showing the most fight week in and week out. Our players never quit on the season. The offense which he is responsible for took a huge step forward compared to last year, despite the lack of skill talent  that we have. It was our defense that was a mess. That’s one of my critiques on Canales. He should’ve gotten rid of Evero and hired his own DC that shares the same vision. But as a whole, I can’t see how people are not pleased with what Canales did with this team. I’d give him an 9/10
    • One of the first thoughts after the game yesterday was that JT was going to jump all over it. He's been more favorable about BY from the beginning, and so yesterday must've felt like Christmas.
    • Maybe, but they were always going to be an impossible team to accurately mocked right now. They have an absurd amount of cap room, what they need right now will not be what they need come draft day.  They can make multiple big splash signings and even make trades for players who need new contracts and their teams don't want to give it to them. OT and WR might be their two biggest needs right now, but it wouldn't be unreasonable to think they could go into the draft needing neither of them.  I think a LT will be their top FA priority, also think they're going to make a big offer to Higgins, and I could see them being a team in the running to trade for someone like DK Metcalf as they need a WR like him and they have the cap space to give him a big new contract.
