Rivera should stay if we go 7-9 or 8-8

I wish Rivera didnt fumble the ball against ATL to ice the game on 3rd and 1. Or make Nakamura trip on his own feet so when he jumps he is 5ft 1..

I wish they called a better play against the seahawks on the roll out...why he told Cam to throw the ball wildly into the ground.

I agree...Rivera does did have a learning curve and Im not so confident the availible new coach will be any improvement.

With that said the new GM and the looks Rrichardson has on the sidelines will probally be enough no matter what.

if, and only if, the team is realy clicking and winning the rest of the season, sure why not. hearing all the bitching and moaning about ron being too stoic might make it worthwhile.

if the team can't improve on last years record, then he should probably replaced.

if he stays around he should be on a very short leash. winning season next year or else. then back to back winning seasons or he gone.

if he's replaced, i'd prefer it be an aggressive coach offensively and defensively. i don't care what he looks like or awhat expressions he makes on the sidelines or whatever. thats pretty petty, imo. i just want him to be effective.

Even if we go 8-8 I'm going to say he shouldn't stay.

Look at the win vs the Iggles. We didn't play well. We played just well enough to beat a team that's even more of a disaster than we are. At this point there is literally nothing that could happen that will convince me he is the right guy to coach this team going forward. My preference we we throw him, the baby, and the bath water all out together....get the stink off this team and go into the market.

I wanted Rivera gone after I knew he fully implemented a college offense for Cam to run. (Might have been calling for his head after the first Bucs game, but definitely after the Giants game) I do think if we go 7-9/8-8, most fans will want Rivera to stay. What is that famous saying, "Winning cures everything"? Yeah, if we start winning again, most fans will want Rivera to stay. The media will be saying Rivera should stay. I ultimately think whoever our new GM is and Richardson, might cave in to that demand, and give him another shot next season. (Even to the bye week as the OP said)

Not to sound prideful, because for one I feel like the franchise has been put on hold right now, but I don't know if there is a Panther fan who wants to get rid of Rivera more than I do, just because of this read option scheme. I wouldn't have cared if we won 9-10 games, I would have wanted Rivera gone just the same. Talk about holding the development of our QB back, by reverting him to just an athletic QB with a strong arm. That is just criminal. No purely athletic QB has ever won a championship, yet Rivera shut down Cam's progression as a passer. Get this man and his deputy Chud on the first thing smokin out of Carolina.

Don't get me wrong, Rivera is a good defensive coordinator. He is not a good Head coach. Look at the success that other teams are having despite having less talented rosters around the league. The Colts are 7-4, the Saints don't even have their HC and a horrible defense and they are better then us, the Chargers are on the highway to hell and they are better then us. Rivera has failed this team and he shouldn't be retained.

Rivera has been downright horrible when it comes to managing the clock. The special teams has been atrocious for the past two years. The offense was a top 10 offense last year. Rivera let Chud change the whole offense into a college offense and now defenses has caught up to us and we can't adjust. Chud has a trend because when he was in Cleveland that had a top 10 offense that first year and the next year the offense was horrible like ours.The only thing Rivera has done was improve the defense a little bit.

Maybe i'm wrong about this but I just don't believe Rivera has showed us fans or anybody else that he deserves to stay another season. We need to get someone in here that is willing to groom and teach players.I want the next coach to be a leader of men. Rivera is not that and he showed it to us plenty of times this season.

Rivera has been gone in my eyes for the better part of the season. Nothing he does now is going to convince me he is our best option for next year.

Should our front office agree with the OP, the least they should do is replace Chud and/or McDermott with someone very experienced that would be a good candidate to move into the interim role if required.

If we go into next year with exactly the same staff (especially Chud) then I will lose a lot of respect for JR and will already be questioning the decision making of our yet-to-be-named GM.

...I'm really on the fence with Rivera....i just dont want to get on the coaching carousel... Arizona has been in existance for 81 years and have had about 40 coaches...Bilicheat sucked in Cleveland, his first gig, i know, i was there....We've had multiple coordinators over the years and 2 coaches with the same result.... Chico has been given a bag of sht by Marty, give him a chance to turn it around, hes a good football mind and hope he can capitalize. He's made some crazy decision over the last 2 seasons which i didnt expect from him but to point to one person and blame him is ludicrous, our problems run much deeper than that...i'm all for getting rid of Chud, he knew what callibur of players we have and should be able to judge their skill and develope an offence to fit that, not jam the square peg in the round hole....fk him.

Its all a moot point though because our new GM will set the direction. Who ever it is, i'm damn sure he knows Armanti and Jimmy cant possiblly help this team win as well as about 20 others...our team is going to be transformed and it pisses me off that Marty wasnt caring Foxy's luggage to the Amtrak station along with his own...

Two things are possible with Rivera. A. He will ge the next Gary Kubiak when they went 8-8 one season, EVERYONE expected them to make the playoffs the following year only to finish a disappointing 6-10, fans called for his head but he got another chance and now that team is on fire. Or B. Rivera will be a Norv Turner, a embattled HC given another chance be ause he "finished strong" and now Norv's team is 4-7 after getting that 2nd chance this year and he will be gone.

If we finish 8-8 then we are looking at the Matt Moore syndrome. Guys, playing loose with no threat to make the playoffs and guys who are fighting extra hard to make a roster next year. A good number of our "stars" are out for the season and this band of merry misfits scrounging out a 500 record is not reason to keep this crap staff here.

8-8 would be nice to look at but it's an empty "improvement".

Rivera sucks and has been done...this is a move to save a chance at making sure the face of our franchise is here to stay for the rest of his career. If you want Cam to be a Cowboy then Rivera can stay. If not then JR better make a big splash hire.
