Rivera should stay if we go 7-9 or 8-8

I think if we can finish a respectable 7-9 or 8-8. Rivera deserves just one more chance. Dont get me wrong, if im the new GM I put Rivera on a extremely tight leash. Its simple, tell Rivera point blank.. We will give you another chance but if we have a losing record come the bye week, you are gone. No excuses.. Cam injured for the season? Doesnt matter. We "only" lost every game by 1 point? Dont care. Our schedule was "tough." doesnt matter. Even if we are at .500 at the bye week, you still get fired Ron. Period! Its winning record at the bye or ELSE. No not .500, no, not "moral victories." WINNING RECORD.

The reason I say this is because there is going to be A LOT of competition for HCs next season in very desireable locations. San Diego,Philly, NY, Dallas just to name a few. Which means highly sought after candidates will most likely go to the big market teams and we will just have the scraps to choose from. Its simple supply and demand. I say wait to find a HC when so many openings wont be avaliable.

Hell no.

So we can fire him in week 3 next year when we start 0-3, and have an interim coach for the reiftar the year?

Chico is a burnt burrito. Dude gotta go.

But think about it. Woth openings on Dallas, Philly, NY and San Diego why would a good prospect choose Carolina over any of those teams? In 2013 you wont have as many coach firings and it will be easier to get a good candidate. Why on earth would a Gruden or Cowher come to Carolina when they can have any of those big market teams?

Whether you want to admit it or not there aren't many guys out there who know football better than Ron. If he shows he has learned to manage a game & we win out he should stay.

OP made a good point. Philadelphia, San Diego, Dallas, New York, & potentially Washington will all have a HC vacancy this offseason. Do you really want the leftovers of those 5 teams? Nobody is choosing Carolina over those places.

We don't win out without great gameplanning & coaching. So if it happens Ron should be given a 3rd year to make a playoff push.

So basically you are willing to waste next year if Rivera can't get a winning record by the bye week (which there is no reason to believe he can) so we can hopefully get a better coach after next season? That is completely retarded. You keep a coach because you believe he can get the job done, not because other teams have jobs opening

Aren't you the same guy that said tank to get Rivera out? LOL.

Aren't you the same guy that Cam was inferior to that guy in Washington? The dude's ass he whipped in DC? You know, the one that doesn't have a prayer of matching Cam's rookie season & will finish with 6-7 wins. Yeah, you're that guy.

Ron, we just don't want you as our HC anymore. Go troll another teams board!!! Maybe you can convince them to hire you as a LB coach! :lolu:

If you guys look at the big picture though. If we go 8-8 that will mean in 2 seasons Rivera took over a 2-14 team and went 6-10 his first year and 8-8 his 2nd year. No im not fond of Rivera but unless Gruden or Cowher want to coach here, I would say 8-8 should earn Rivera atleast until next season's bye to put up or shut up.

I get your point but we're not looking for a Gruden or Cowher. We want a upcoming HC.

It's going to be hard for any potential HC to want to go coach under Jerry Jones with little decision making. If Garrett is fire, Holmgreen is the next HC there.

Philly has no QB to lure a top tier HC.

SD may be the only competition for a HC.

    • he has barely suited up for 50% of our games.  It matters pending how much of our cap and resources go that way.  If he cost in the ballpark of a Surtain? No thank you.  Let someone else  And as far we know what happens when we let talent walk away or trade them…..that’s a mixed bag.   should we of paid Norman, Bradberry at CB? They probably had earned the right to be called better than Horn at that moment of the decision.  Do we regret that? Do we regret Star walking? Can take it back to Spoon.  Flip side is probably Peppers.
    • We need to get better in the redzone. And yes that is an issue that involves all the moving parts. Oline receivers QB and playcalling. But Bryce himself has to lead the charge on that or surely we could face another blowout in one of these upcoming games. Every team no matter how good they are is going to face an opponent that imposes their will on them and requires the same in response. Those are the games where we have got to capitalize on drives. Honestly I get the sense that the Chiefs on some level overlooked us.  So while I am pleased we were as competitive as we were it certainly remains to be seen if this was the beginning for something new or just an anomaly. I think that's a perfectly fair take at this juncture.
    • He is a diva, even with Baltimore winning, he will cry and pout and ask to be traded. He cares about his numbers and stats for his next contract. Ironically, his best chance to showcase his ability was with us, now he is just an afterthought.
