...what this offense and team will look like when Hendo gets back on the court. With all the talk about trading him away- lets not forget how solid he has been for us the past few years. He has trade value because he is an asset. Earlier in the year, when he was out there, the team wasnt firing like it is now. Im still not opposed to trading him but i still want to see how he performs with Kemba and MKG.

My guess is, if we had him, we beat ATL last night

Gerald Henderson has become very underrated by many Bobcat fans. He hasn't been an All-Star by any means, but that doesn't mean that he cannot develop into one. Personally, I don't see him ever being an All-Star (unless he can become a more consistent shooter, distribute a bit better, and develop a 3pt shot), but that doesn't matter right now. Henderson is a very smart player (played under Coach K for 4 years), a very hard worker, a leader, and gotten consistently better throughout the years. He went from hardly playing in his rookie season to averaging 15 points per game on a very solid shooting percentage last season. He's also a good on-ball defender and help defender. I'm excited for his return. A punch of offense is what this team needs and that is what we will get with Henderson.

BTW just in case anyone is curious about Henderson's shooting percentages: (per Hoopsdata.com)

Gerald Henderson

--------------------------

At the rim: 68% (top half of the NBA), 3.5 attempts per game.

3-9 Feet: 30% (subpar), 1.1 attempts per game.

10-15 Feet: 45% (top half of the NBA), 1.4 attempts per game.

16-23 Feet: 40% (top half of the NBA), 6.3 attempts per game.

3PT: 23% (bottom half of the NBA), 0.9 attempts per game.

FT: 76% (middle of the pack), 3.7 attempts per game.

Also, remember that last season our entire offense was AWFUL outside of Henderson and he had to force up some bad shots knocking his percentages down just a touch. I expect his percentages to go up playing in a much better offense, faster tempo, and playing with new (Haywood, MKG, Sessions) and improved players (Kemba, Mullens). He also was shooting 40% from 3 this season before going down (granted, very small sample size), and supposedly has really been working on his three point shooting (he's at least going to be average from the corner this year).

No he hasn't been underrated. For where he was drafted he has been a disappointment. He is a good 6th man type of player. I agree having him healthy definitely gives us a better chance to win and having better depth is always good, but he is nothing great. Or close to it.

Yes, he has been underrated. I'm not saying that all Bobcats fans overrated him, but a lot of them do. He's not a bad player or even just an average player. He's better than average. He might have "disappointed" his first 2 seasons, but you have to actually play to show what you can do. Larry Brown hates rookies, so he didn't play under Brown. As he's gotten more PT, he's shown more. Yeah, he isn't great, but he's arguably our best player.

I am more interested in what this defense will look like with him on the floor. he is a decent defender and may be able to help on the boards as well. We will finally have a 2 guard who is the right size. Something we have been missing the last 3 weeks or so.

I definitely like Henderson's defense. It's what he was known for in college (that and his athleticism), and something that he hasn't been able to fully showcase with the Bobcats yet. We know that he is a good on-ball defender... I am ready to see what his team defense is like now that he has solid defensive players around him. RE: rebounds, idk how much he will help there... I could see him averaging 4-5 in 32 mpg easily, but that's probably about it. We really just need Bismack to improve his rebounding if we want to see our rebounding increase (as he's been an average rebounder for his size)

    • I've watched and listened to several evaluations from the good ole youtubers.  From what I was able to watch, the first few drives before I left to do a job to the end of the game were very different for Bryce.  So he had a "good" game.  Which is great.  I love a win, period.  His WRs had some drops, thing ripped away, etc.  Not great, but a W is a W, right? I think the Panthers have to start Bryce.  You have to see if he continues to build on the good plays and make fewer and fewer bad plays.  No QB is going to play a perfect game.  But we need to continue to see Bryce make plays.  Does he have the ability to will his team to victory?  I'm not sure. I'm still in the Bryce is a backup QB camp.  I'm glad he had a good game, I glad we won, but I need to see more before we make a decision to keep or trade him.  Playing Andy literally does NOTHING to help you for the future.  Andy may not even resign with the Panthers.  We could be out both starting QBs by the time FA/Draft season hits. Ultimately, this is a Dan Morgan and Dave Canales issue.  Can they get value out of Bryce to help them improve the total roster?  Is there a FA QB who would be an upgrade?  A surprise cut or post season trade?  Or is there a QB at the top of the draft who they think they can mold into a high level starting QB?  I don't know. I do know I want to see more of Bryce Young and more out of him on the field.  I want to see the fire, the competitor come out.  I want him getting pissed.  I want him to grab his beanbag and tell us all he's the f'ing dude.  I just don't think we'll see that out of Bryce.  If not the fire, then let me see the ice - let me see the rattle proof dude who kills with accuracy and playmaking no matter how hot and crazy it gets.
    • Ickey at LT and Brady as Center / Swing position player is more valuable to our team IMO
    • That's fair but signing a veteran like Justin Fields to a one year deal and drafting defense with our first is always an option two.  I personally don't think these QBs this year are top 10 worthy selections
