Colts fans wanted to lose so they could draft Luck. Look where that got them. I consider myself in that same boat, but for different purposes. One, to assure Rivera is gone. Two, a much needed boost in draft picks. I hear people talk about Jadeveon Clowney. This plan I'm talking on right here, puts us in a legitimate spot to draft him, even if we win the superbowl next year. If not him, perhaps a guy like Marquis Lee. This idea is spotless, and all it costs us is to see this team lose five games. Five games is not much, compared to a HOF roster, guaranteed to have us in superbowl talks year in and year out.

I actually thought I was the only one who felt this way, and decided to make it a topic. I don't know though, this plan seems to be the best thing possible, yet for some reason we don't think so. I want to know why.

and none of them have any original thought to them. it's all the same thing. lose out so we get a better draft pick. never mind that it's going to make this team look horrible and like a seemingly insurmountable challenge for a new GM and coaching staff. never mind that it will end up sucking just about every bit of pride out what players stick around after how many years of sucking and working on their 3rd coach and 3rd system in 4 years...yeah. getting that one draft pick is worth it all.

we will have some big competition for HC this year. the team has to look as attractive as possible and as little a chore as possible for potential HCs. what's more important? an early first and maybe an early second draft pick who might make a difference in a couple years, or a HC that can shape and mold this whole team into something special?

sorry, i want this team to look good for a prospective HC and i want this team to feel better than dirt heading into the offseason. i don't think there's any player in the draft or need so great in the draft that moving up a few spots in the draft would be worth losing out.

We are not going to win out. We struggled mightily with a team in Philly that has half quit. We aren't winning out so put that out of your mind. I do think we can beat OAK, SD, and KC.

We'll see. None of those are quality wins and I still say with all likely paths this thing could finish in, Rivera is 95% fired.

Winning cures everything! No one should never have a mindset of a loser. I don't mind losing if you tried your best, but to lay down and give up is unacceptable. We need this frachise to break out of the funk and winning is the only answer. Draft picks for the sake of draft picks is good but getting a good position doesn't guarantee any success. Gems are found all over the draft. Not just the top 5. I say put your best foot forward and if you go down, go down swinging

I believe the Jags will win a couple of more games, just by looking at their play recently. Chad Henne has fired up that team. The Chiefs I believe will win a couple of games as well, they played Peyton hard at home. I believe they will beat us, and beat at least one more team. The Eagles should win at least one more game. If we lose out, I'm 100% positive we will have the first pick. The percentages are highly in our favor concerning that.

They will be eligible next year. With a new HC (hopefully), our record next year will be great, even playoff worthy. So we won't be in position to pick Clowney or Lee with our designated pick. However, if we also have the first round pick of another team, and that team sucks, we will have a chance to draft Clowney or a top ten guy. That is thinking ahead. This is the kind of smarts this franchise has been lacking. In fact, the best GMs are always looking ahead, even as their teams succeed in the present. Hurney was always trading away future draft picks for guys like Armanti Edwards and Everette Brown. So I'm glad he's gone.

I don't know how serious previous threads concerning this topic have been. Usually it's drown out by the "Win baby win" crowd. The thing that attracts coaches to teams, is usually the talent of the football team. I don't know of any other team that has as good of talent as we do. They also look for the amount of control they can have over their team. That's why teams like the Cowboys will be far down any in coming HCs list. Whether we win or lose, Carolina will be the most alluring team for any HC candidate.

Think about 2010, where we came off a sorry season with Clausen. No coach wanted to take that over, with Clausen as your starting QB. Yet now we have Cam, who's shown he got stuff. We got 1,000,000 tackles a year in Kuechly. We got the book ends in CJ and Hardy. What coach won't want to take a stab at that roster? Even though I hope we lose out, what is lost in my arguments is the fact I still want our young players to tear it up. I still want Cam to pass down the field accurately. I still want CJ and Hardy to attack QBs and force turnovers. I still want Smitty to be Smitty. I just want to lose at the end for the sake of the franchise.

Rivera will not be retained even if we win out. Expectations were high this year, GM's were fired, coaches were fired. It's a front office fire sale and Rivera is a dead man walking. It does not matter how well the team finishes, the new GM is going to hand pick his own coach.

Winning will do nothing but help the confidence of our players and there is literally a 0.00001% chance that Rivera is retained no matter how well they play. He's already proven his incompetence. It doesn't matter how many retarded fans there would be that want him to remain because he won some games, the fans don't make front office decisions.
