For the Sake of the Franchise

Even if we lost to KC they would have to win another game in order for us to end up with the #1 pick. Your plan is flawed from the start.

I think KC could win three games. If Jamaal Charles hit a hot streak, I think their defense can win three games for them.

your flaw is basing the above points on the false premise that the current staff will be here next year unless we lose out.

I know the new GM wouldn't have to think about it if we lose out. Again, if we win 3 games, I strongly think Rivera has a shot. If we win 4 or all five, I think he will definitely be back. In fact, 75% of our fanbase will fight for him to come back if that happens.

You sound like a Cleveland Browns fan.

I don't think New England has owned a top 15 pick in 12+ years. Yet they've made 5 Super Bowls, & won 3. Drafting high just means you suck.

New England has one of the top QBs of all time. Plus they regularly trade back in the draft, this year they capitalized on it, when they got two studs in Hightower and Jones. Now they are looking to dominate again. We need our draft boost this year.

I actually thought I was the only one who felt this way, and decided to make it a topic. I don't know though, this plan seems to be the best thing possible, yet for some reason we don't think so. I want to know why.

People said we should tank 2 seasons ago. All the team needed was a QB and that would be the last time we picked in the top 5 for at least 10-15 years. Here we are two seasons later almost as bad picking at the top yet again. The team has already proven draft picks isn't the answer.

Besides football is a competition. Saying losing is the best thing in any competition is fuging retarded.

To be fair, people wanted to tank for Luck two years ago. Chances are we would be fighting for playoff position if Luck was our QB. (No disrespect to Cam, but Luck entered the game as a miniature fusion of Petyon Manning and John Elway) We all knew Cam was a work in progress, and really he is much further along than anyone thought.

However, this coaching staff sabotaged this season, and Cam's mental growth. They haven't encouraged his skills as a passer, but encouraged his athletic ability a little more this season. This isn't just about draft picks. If Cam is going to develop the right way, into more than an athletic QB, he needs a true coaching staff. Also, I'm not just talking about one draft pick here, but a slew of them by trade. (That will also give us two first round picks next year)

You are assuming

1. Somebody would want to trade up which isn't guaranteed.

2. All the draft picks would pan out which isn't guaranteed.

3. Eagles win another game, Jags at least one more game maybe two, and the chiefs win another one along with beating us, which is far from guaranteed.

Those things don't happen, and chances are they won't, and the team would tank for no reason.

I think someone wanting to trade up is a good assumption to make. Arizona for example is just pitiful. They would trade up to pick me to be their QB if that were possible. Secondly, yeah, maybe not all the draft picks would pan out. Yet that is true with any draft. However for the most part, picks within the first two round do pan out. Imagine having four picks within those rounds, and they all pan out. I'll take that chance. I'm not too worried about whether the other teams can win games or not, I like the chances there inspite of the teams in question. All they have to do is win one or two games, and I like the chances to win 2 out of 5.

Lastly, I don't want the team to tank. I want them to lose. I'm happy to see our young guys play well. I was estatic to see Cam look guys off and throw strikes for touchdowns. I just want to lose from here on out.

Those teams aren't winning more games than us, it simply isn't happening. Losing would be terrible and it is retarded to want the team you claim to support to lose.

Noo but I watched a team trade up for RGIII last year. That means I think the same thing will happen this year.

Colts fans wanted to lose so they could draft Luck. Look where that got them. I consider myself in that same boat, but for different purposes. One, to assure Rivera is gone. Two, a much needed boost in draft picks. I hear people talk about Jadeveon Clowney. This plan I'm talking on right here, puts us in a legitimate spot to draft him, even if we win the superbowl next year. If not him, perhaps a guy like Marquis Lee. This idea is spotless, and all it costs us is to see this team lose five games. Five games is not much, compared to a HOF roster, guaranteed to have us in superbowl talks year in and year out.

If Rivera stays, Cam could be done in Carolina.
