Cam Newton and the forbidden Audibles

Statistic are interesting and they are misleading.

What was he record against better defenses last year, and this year? ...and in games that mattered.

Again, I'm a Newton fan, but, not a Newton apologist. He's a 2nd year QB and not as polished as some and more polished then others.

The difference between last year and this is, teams have figured out Cam is the strength of this team and this team never made the proper adjustments for that. If you keep leaning on your QB to do it all eventually the defense will see that and go after the QB at every turn to take the team out of the game.

I have not seen many of the Panthers game live because of my location but in all honesty, there is only two teams that really beat the Panthers. The Colts and Gaints.

QBs are going to fumble balls and throw INTs every so often. They are going to make dumb moves at time. In the end, a well coached team can and should get around whatever hiccups caused by a QB. A well balanced team should be able to cover up the mistakes of their QB. But if a team is completely about the QB, every mistake he makes will be magnified and costly. Sadly, that's the Panthers.

you say youre a newton fan.. but dont you know that good qbs are supposed to do that to bad defenses. if he would have struggled, that would have been a problem.

as far as better defenses, pay better attention to the games and youll see the problem. its a mixture of terrible o line play and horrible passing plays by chud. the eagles d only has 7 sacks on the year and even they got plenty of penetration of our o line

before you try to say im a cam nut hugger, dont. i call it like i see it..

yes, cam has terrible throwing accuracy sometimes, but you cant bash him for it.. look at his td passes from the monday night game. set his feet in the pocket and launched the ball with perfect placement and spiral

I call it as I see it too, but, you like to point out that I need to pay better attention to games, thanks, but, I have watched football, in depth for 40 years, along with analysis of those games by QBs who played the game. I'll take their opinion, if that's ok with you.

I don't bash Newton and I'm not bashing you. You can have your opinions just as I can have mine.

Newton has a way to go to be a QB that can be counted on with hot reads and smart movement in the pocket, that is normal for any young QB, paticularly with almost 2 years of game tape

He had chance to win games this year, he didn't (Atlanta and Seattle and Dallas).

Next year, as he grows, he should win those types of games and the future will be bright and if he doesn't. The Panthers have a problem.

Let us agree to hope that growth comes.
