UPDATE! Rick Reilly is a lying dingleberry clinging to his hatred of Cam Newton

Very true, but I think he us just being politically correct. Too much poo gets out and the players would stop talking to him. Not surprising in how he handles it.

Says just enough to jerk the drama in the huddle going, yet not enough to get him in trouble with players. He is sly like a fox that way.

But, don't question whether he had the contacts. He IS on the sidelines and IS in the locker room with the team...and players do talk to him. Those that know him know that ALL of this is accurate.

What, anything he tells us on this board is going to get back to the players? I'm just saying, if players on this team are saying Cam is a diva and telling Zod of all people this info, I can guaran-damn-tee you it's already well known through the whole organization by now. Zod might have media credentials but he's not the Panther whisperer.

I like Colin, but he has already firmly thrown himself in the "I predict Cam will be a bust" camp. Reilly is one of the worst people on the planet and should be stoned to death. It only serves Colin's purpose to bring Reilly on because he knows he'll bust on Cam and strengthen his proclamation.

Cowherd's job and schtick it to stir crap up. The media, in general, does the same thing. Cowherd's goal is to be devisive. The sports media (especially ESPN) has evolved to such a pathetic level that I would suggest that their credibility is about as good as WWE announcers. Cowherd makes broad, outlandish statements to generate controversy. Most of these talk show mouth breathers operate this way.

Here is the thing. He had to do an interview after the game when everyone had left. He was still on the field with ESPN and NFL Network. Then after he dressed he did another interview with NFL Network. So that makes since he would be late.

Most of these sports reporters and talk show hosts (not talking about former players, just media jocksniffers) are whiny babies. Guys like Cowherd, Bayless, Greenberg, Reilly etc probably were receiving wedgies from HS football players when they were in high school. These jocksniffers become announcers and act like they are your wife if you don't kiss their ass.

Difference between holding up a bus.....and having a player holding up a bus bc he is doing a press conference. Cam would love to not do those pressers and get on the bus with everyone else

In a previous post it was stated that Cam takes forever to get to the actual press conference before the bus. If that is the case then it is his fault and Ron should not tolerate it.

You would be surprised how many of the players actually read this forum.

Did someone tell you this or you're guessing? FWIW, I agree with you.

I have heard from multiple people who know players....but do not know anything absolute. Just what I have heard.

Just like many of the media guys that cover the Panters come here as well. That one is easier to know.....some of the things we say here make it into their blogs and articles.

I was at the Tampa game and during a TV timeout he spoke to nearly everybody on the offense and was slapping five with everyone. This was when we were down 10-0 in the first half. So maybe the entire offense is part of the select few?

OH NOOOOOOEZ!!! Cam isn't Haruki Nakamura's BFF and doesn't talk to him!!!!

Turns out Reilly may have been full of poo after all:

@StevenJuston: . @ReillyRick report that Cam had team wait 40 minutes on bus is completely false. Cam wasn't even the last player out of the locker room.

@StevenJuston: . @ReillyRick Cam also took time to meet with @Eagles clubhouse equipment guys after meeting with media. He signed their Wall of Fame.

Edit: (StevenJuston is a Panthers PR guy)

    • Just had Thanksgiving meal with a couple dozen family and friends. I lucked out and got one of the smoked turkey legs. Stuffing, mashed taters and gravy, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, kale, smoked ham, chicken and rice, corn, lima beans, cranberry sauce, and great people. My brother got his guitar out and we got to singing. Lots of actual conversations with people I hardly  ever get to see, haven't seen in a while, or who I never met before. Just a great moment to remember.
    • 3-8 would be a higher win percentage than 3-9
    • Same... With the personnel the Niners had, that defense could have been historically good in the right hands. Under Wilks they were certainly good, they didn't quite rise to that level. Honestly, I see Wilks kinda like I see Rivera: fantastic person, decent head coach. Skill wise, phenomenal DB coach, so-so DC. His greatest strength is his leadership. Hard to find many better in that department. In the Xs and Os / execution area though, not as good. Bottom Line: Wilks is the sort of coach that needs a staff that excels in those aspects of the game where he's weaker. But, like Rivera, I don't know that he scouts assistants very well. That as much as anything might be why he's not in the NFL now.
