Defining moment?

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

The first time Jake Delhomme stepped on the field as a Panther, he essentially grabbed hold of the offense, shook them out of their funk and led them down the field, ultimately to victory.

It was a defining moment. From then on, Jake was the leader of this team. And even as his skills declined, the men who'd seen him turn that first game around - and even others that had come along since - were still ready to go to war with him as their captain.

Leaders need a moment like that, one where they take charge and show everyone that they're the man.

So was last night's grand performance A defining moment for Cam Newton? Why or why not?

I think Cam's defining moment will come when we snag a win after he throws an INT. That is a hurdle this team need to get over....

Thats when we'll be a TEAM and not a One Man Show. I dont expect it this year though, a lot of guys are just out there and dont have the resolve to overcome a turnover.

a step in the right direction. Cam is our leader. We just need a team that is ready to look for him to be it as he begins to take it.

Gross was busy sucking. Smitty was fighting again during key moments late when a penalty would have been HUGE. Our current leadership is horrible and has repeatedly been hinted at as the weakness......yet somehow people still are on Smitty's junk. Smitty was playing dumb again last night.

I gotta agree with this sentiment.

In the case of Jake the team was down, we were feeling the "here we go again" feeling of an unspectacular Peete performance. Nothing "felt" right. When Jake entered that game the players said they had to calm him down, that he was wide eyed crazy in the huddle. The whole stadium felt the change and when Rickey pulled in that last TD pass everyone watching knew something special was about to happen.

Cam looked real good last night but I don't feel like he or the team had to overcome or rise to a challenge. Philly took the lead but never by more than a possession and none of the "oh poo" bad stuff happened.

Cam and the team took some steps in the right direction, but no it wasn't a defining moment.

Smitty isnt a QB so we never had to look at him as absolute. So people write it off with him as a hothead receiver. Gross has been stealing checks for years. If those guys had Cams focus and hatred of losing we'd be better. We need guys who want to match our QBs intensity, not just stand around and watch.

I have never in my life seen a fan base so bipolar.

Guys, Cam played much better last night, which is pretty much all you guys are worrying about, but we also played a team just a notch above NC State. The offense had 4 Oline starters not there and lost a backup during the game, rookie QB, rookie RB (who gashed us quite well), lost their no. 1 WR during the game, had already lost their no. 3 WR. That is just the offense. The team gave up weeks ago. Glad we won, but keep some perspective. We are not the worst team in the league and should beat some of the crappy ones on our schedule. At the end of the day, we will be a 4-5 win team who has a long way to go.

Defense got gashed last night and at times looked horrible. Cam looked great when he had time to pass, but still loses his footwork discipline when pressured. Just saying, don't go from Cam and Panthers are worst in the league to Cam and Panthers are Super Bowl bound just because we beat the Wolfpack errr Eagles last night. Perspective.

actually we don't have a long way to go.....the fact we barely have lost almost every game under Rivera fimly supports that. This team could be a winner overnight.....and that happens in the NFL.

We need coaching and a GM with a better sense of where to invest at.

    • His o loaded with swift, dj, Keenan and Rome was inconsistent at best. The d was bad. And the game management was atrocious and lost them games.  He was terrible and made the team worse. I wish they kept him
    • That is my point.  I think teams make a huge mistake when they pay their decent to average QBs top QB money because they feel that they have to match the market or lose their investment--There is no way, for example, that Tua or Prescott or Murray should all be making more than Mahomes--I mean, Dak makes $15m per season more than Mahomes. People say, "Well, when its his turn...." But that is not how it should be--so my point was that Bryce can be doing mediocre to good enough in 2 years, but the way it is going, you have to pay him at the starting QB rate--currently $60m.  So even if you think he will continue to improve, at $60 m, he would eliminate any chance for a ring---so my view is, if he is not elite, you cut him.  So you draft QBs now and see what you can make of them.
    • With two 4ths and three 5ths I’m hoping we can kill it on adding depth. Take a gamble with the two 7ths.  First 3 picks id love to address the defense. I expect Tuttle, Robinson, and Jewell to all be on the 2025 roster but not after that. Be a good time to add depth and let them develop a year.
