A bit of followup.

That guy loved to get on my bed, he wasn't allowed, but if I left the door cracked even just a bit, he was in that bed. I guess it smelled like me and was crazy comfortable. But whatever.

After I brought him home, I immediately took the sheets off my bed and wrapped him in them. Took him to our beach house and got some lumber. I built him a really nice casket, and buried him by the waterway wrapped in my sheets and in the hand made casket.

I will be having a brass nameplate made and will be attaching it to the house above where I laid him to rest.

Food bowl still has food in it, his bed is still on the floor. Thanks for listening, it helps to read through this thread.
