Huge game for the future of the franchise?

ridiculous.

i know that there are those people who claim to be fans who want the team to lose, but they should never come out of the closet unless you are fine with people pointing and laughing and shaking their heads.

Isn't that what message boards are for? I enjoy reading your posts for the most part, but I had a post expressing this same view after the Bears loss (the Cowboys game and Hurney's firing signaled the end to the season and THE END to Rivera IMO). Amazingly, my post was very warmly received and echoed. Now I post relative to the realities and ramifications of winning/losing this game vs. a team with a similar need for OL help, with a new article saying the draft's top prospect may be an OT, and people don't get it? Wtf?

Your perrinial playoff teams NEVER pick inside the top 10. They get good players at the bottom every year! Again losing for the sake of draft position is losers mentality. And with that kind of mentality on your team, one player will not fix a shitty team with a sorry ass way of thinking! If you think so then you are also a loser.

you are cheering for the team to lose...and we get this a couple times a week and it usually gets this reaction from everyone except the few posters in here who make the threads themselves.

most people don't want their team to lose and could NEVER cheer for them to do so.

it hurts a team to lose. earning a draft pick just isn't worth it.

sorry...you're just over thinking this whole thing and coming to a ridiculous conclusion that says we should especially hope to lose this game.

losing is always bad for a team.

Still strongly disagree. This great state has only won one major professional sports title, the 2006 Stanley Cup. But almost no one knows that this was only possible because a terrible 2003 season allowed the Carolina Hurricanes to draft Eric Staal.

I am tired of losing too, but we have been to a Super Bowl and 3 NFC Championship games, the only thing I care about is the Lombardi Trophy, which we are not getting this year.

Umm weren't you doing that when we had Clausen?

ummmm.....no.

i didn't have to. i wanted to win, but i was also cheering on the other teams to win who were close to being worse than us, but there really wasn't anyone.

the best thing for the franchise may have been newton, but i would rather that we were never in a position to draft him in the first place. i would rather have been winning. i would rather have had a FO and a coaching staff that was able to make adjustments to not just the games they were playing, but to the league in general. i wish that they hadn't considered the passing game to be a fad that they were too cool to follow. i wish they hadn't been so stubborn and had improved the passing game and tried harder to find a replacement for jake and had done a better job of finding receivers. i wish that they had just done better about building the team to begin with instead being happy with being average.

every losing season we have puts a ring that much further away. and don't point at those teams who are able to turn things around quickly. it's rare.

i'm tired of this losing culture. i'm tired of "fans" who want to lose so they can move up a couple spots in the draft. it's pathetic.

losing teams lose and they are fine with it. winning teams never accept losing. they never allow it.

teams that are serious about wanting to be better never stop fighting.

the draft just isn't that important. one or two more early draft picks aren't going to make this team a perennial winner, but being ok with losing and continuing to do so will only breed more of the same.

i don't think so and i don't think it's wrong to pull for them to lose out the season...as long as it results in us being able to get a guy that we can build the team around for the next 1-15 years and will get us a couple rings.

i believe in sacrificing things to get a bigger reward. if we sacrifice this season, we could end up winning big. call it a gamble. call it an investment.

Saying it's not wrong to want to lose and it's ok to sacrifice a season sounds the same as wanting the team to lose imo. Either way, you went from its ok to sacrifice the 2010 season to losing is never ok which is still a contradiction.

With the cap/rookie contracts the way they are the Chiefs and Jags would be pretty stupid not to take a QB of the future in favor of a left tackle. Cassel and Gabbert are both terrible and both teams have above average LTs with Eugene Monroe and Branden Albert.

We need to win this game so that the QB of the future for this franchise has some confidence that he can actually win a game. Let's hope the morons on this coaching staff don't ruin it because this kid has endured some pretty ridiculous criticism due to the ignoramus that calls the plays..
