If you knew then what you know now...

I was originally not in favor of drafting him because we did not have a veteran to start the first year but the crop of qbs that came out the same year and since then have made me rethink the idea that it takes several years to develop a rookie qb. The poise of this generation of qbs is pretty amazing.May have much to do with the college offenses and pro becoming more similar.....I don't know,

Day 1 start without the Year 2 Offensive change

You've tapped into part of what I'm pondering here.

Suppose Newton had sat and learned all the nuances of a pro offense for the first season. Would Chudzinski still have felt the need - for whatever reason- to switch to a college style offense in year two?

I know people will go with the "he set a bunch of rookie records" argument in this. Someone will have to tell me exactly what good those records are doing us right now.

Add in that the benefit of whatever good experience he got last year is being erased by the disaster of this year.

I understand what you're saying. But, they should've added wrinkles to that scheme instead of running a completely different style.

what they're running now isn't as drastic a change as the huddle would make it seem.

after sitting down and watching a full lions game for the first time in ages, i believe i see what carolina wants to do.

if he can work out the kinks in his game, he can execute it.

Start him.

The best rookie QB of all time.

I think its a mixture of immaturity in Cam, coaching and not allowing Cam to grow by not treating him like he is still learning the game. Still, I would have started him.

Ask again what I asked above...

What good is that all time great rookie season doing us, or him, right now?

How many teams completely change there offensive style (with the returning staff). All OCs run there same scheme year to year, with added wrinkles. Chud hurt Cam and the offense because he was trying to be creative. Its like 'hey this is working well' 'lets go in a totally different direction and slow our QBs learning'.
