Alex Smith got benched

well if you compare the YPP and INT % the panthers org and coaching staff is as good as san francisco's.

you will never win against PFFL. he argues from a presuppositional standpoint that quarterbacks win games by themselves (see all the rhetoric in this topic about "leading his team to XYZ") and is a stat cherry picker from hell. he'll also change what he's arguing about when the numbers don't wash anymore. last year he argued passionately that YPP (yards per point) was the ultimate, final, one stop shop offensive statistic and he used it endlessly to argue against cam because we were putting up tons of yards but points scored wasn't really reflecting it. then he abandoned it after our offense became a lot more efficient on the back stretch of 2011 and our YPP wound up in the top half of the league.

i also like the remarks about cam getting rivera and chudzinski fired. as if cam is in chud's ear forcing him to call some of the worst games i've ever seen.

Still is and hasn't changed and I never abandoned it. And it proved right as the results spoke for themselves. We were inefficient. We still are. Cam was like the Jack Tayler of the NFL, putting up 138 points but needed to take 108 shots. Although we were probably worse than that. He was still shooting efficiently enough to have a positive PER but you get the idea.

When we became more efficient, we started winning.

However, we still finished 20th in net yards per point. We became more efficient on offense because of our better field position due to turnovers, mainly against the Tampa Bay games. Scoring on short field position gives you a better yard per point coefficient. But if you checked the opponents yards per point, our offense was STILL putting out defense in poor field position due to them going 3 and out and failing to score.

This year we are 28th, and our record also ties us for 28th in the league. And we still can't score which is what I was pointing to last year...Go figure...

And the top 10 offenses in scoring efficiency are still winning......and they will in 2013 too. Because this is a fact of all sports. The most efficient scoring teams generally win.

Sorry, I think you missed the point.

People who want to defend the honor of Newton against Smith have no leg to stand on. Smith has been winning and playing quite efficiently. You just can't argue against his record and rating when you team is underperforming like ours is. SF has a QB controversy not because Smith played badly, but because the ceiling of Kaepernick is so high after he looked so good in the time he was given. He was the guy who was bigger, faster, and had a better arm than Cam in that draft class, that is saying a lot.

So....Alex Smith wins by himself and Cam loses by himself, got it. LoL. Cam has an outstanding year last season, but is garbage. CK has an outstanding GAME, yet is the awesomeness? You can't make this poo up. A-G-E-N-D-A.

Smith certainley has been efficient. But there is a reason he possess one of the lowest attempts in the league. If he was a truly talented Qb wouldn't the 49ners want to take advantage of that? Smith's ceiling had been met. His presence limits what this team can do potentially own offence.

Colin certainley deserves credit, but Smith low ceiling and limitations are big contributing reasons why this switch is being made.
