no reason to salvage the season

"Winners make commitments, Losers make excuses". There is no excuse to lose out just to get a draft pick. Just because you get a top 5 draft pick, doesn't automatically mean we hit the jackpot with a player at that spot. It's all about having pride for what you do. Do you really think these grown men on this roster wants to continue to lose just to get a top rookie to come in? I don't think so. We need to shed this loser mentality of the past. I wouldn't mind us getting some kind of momentum to bring into next season. I will be rooting for this team every sunday (monday next week) for us to win. Plus wouldn't you like to mess up playoff position/berths that other teams my have :)

Serisously people dont need to get but hurt when someone says we need to lose out to ensure good picks.

the simple point is that there is no way we go to the playoffs, if we win out, the most we get is some media coverage. big deal.

wost case, 5 of our best players get hurt severely and are out for part of next season. what happens is TD blows that knee out again, after we are 2-10.. what was the point? when we can save him for next year.

think about it a different way, it looks like the top WR will be a 2/3 pick this season. We can win out, and pick 12-15th and maybe get the 2nd or 3rd wr, OR we can have a number 1 QB throwing to a #1 WR. on top of that, a couple of really good o line guys are predicted to go early in the second. and the rookies are cheap.

and if you think we should go d line (not only are you wrong) but the best will still be a top 5 pick...

While it may not be in any induviuals best intereste as far as stats or performance bonuses go, it IS in the best interest of the team, both short and long term to lose out. thats just a fact.

We haven't been able to find a way to win when we're trying to win and you're suggesting that we now try to lose... Wow

thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard.. you know that big thing that happens in the off season called the DRAFT

So how do you propose this gets done?

Are you going to tell players that are fighting for their careers to go out there and lay down and intentionally suck? Bench the players that are fighting for their careers and tell your better players to intentionally suck? How does this work exactly?

uhmmmmm, you created this thread so how can you say anything you heard was dumb? what the hell does a high draft pick guarantee? another 6 win season? i guess thats better than what we have going on now.

The problem with the OP idea is that RR is not going to tank this season because his job depends on how we finish out. Get read for 2-4 more wins

his future depends on it, either here or elsewhere. whether for another DC job or HC job somewhere down the line, they are going to look at what he did and how he finished. if he just gave up then no one is going to hire him.

and the players do not benefit from losing either.

and i guarantee you that if some order from the top came down for the players and the team to "take one for the team" and lose....esp., just for a draft pick...that a struggling fanbase would start to walk out the door at an even faster pace. it won't matter what they look like in the future because they will forever be known as a team that tanked it so they could pick up a shiny WR or something like that. they will be known as a team that laid down and just didn't care about winning.

aside from a draft pick or two, nothing good would come from it...but a whole lot of damage could be done from tanking.

nothing else has worked in ole say...... 7 years? lmao

you think losing on purpose to get good draft picks that still won't get the needed coaching will help. We've been in every game except two and we've lost the lead in most of those. To me, that doesn't shout draft picks are needed. It tells me that we need better coaching. In addition, who the heck wants to lose on purpose? What will that do for players mentality? So on and so forth.these guys are professionals. Do you quit when you've failed and hope that someone else comes in to help you? Or do you try harder? That's a dumb question, you'd quit! Laughing at you lyao...
