Wifi Question

Recommended Posts

My house is wired with fiber in all the bedrooms and the living room. I have a new wireless router connected upstairs. The signal is strong upstairs but weak downstairs. I have an extra wireless router that was previously running upstairs that I want to run downstairs. When I plug the old router into the ethernet outlet downstairs my phone finds the network, shows a strong signal, but will not connect. What have I done wrong? How can I have two WiFi networks in my house?

You need to change your second WiFi router to "infrastructure" mode. This will make it nothing more than a wireless access point and and extension of the one plugged into your service providers modem.

Get the model of your 2nd router and Google the instructions for setting it into infrastructure mode or WAP mode.
