There is a reason Rivera couldn't land a HC job, even though he is one of the best DCs in the league

I agree with Darin Gantt. Gantt said on Twitter last night that you really can't continue to put Rivera out there with a straight face. It's becoming ridiculous.

I don't know if it would help any, but I don't think he needs to be here right now.

I wanted Rivera before Fox was even gone.

Now it's clear that he just won't be a great head coach, without some major changes in himself. The Panthers can afford to wait that long.

Richardson doesn't like to fire a head coach mid season, which i normally agree with.

It wouldn't upset me to see him fired though.

Dude really didn't have a chance but i'm not liking what im seeing... i was happy with the hire originally...but, you cant give his azz a volkswagon and tell him to go out an win the Daytona 500...

Fast Forward to now and you see there has been nothing Aggresive about the Carolina Panthers. Your a 2-7 football team your job security has vanished and you need 1 yard to win the game at home. You send your punt team on the field

You guys calling Rivera a "POS" and similar names need to get a life. I don't like the team's performance any more than the rest of you, and I agree that Ron should be fired at the end of the season absent some sort of miraculous turnaround. But Ron is a gentleman, has treated everyone in the organization--and I mean EVERYONE, top to bottom--with decency and respect, and has done nothing to bring shame on himself or the team. He may or may not be NFL head coach material--sometimes a different situation can be a new lease on life. But no one can deny that he's been a successful NFL coach, and that he's a good man who works his butt off and sincerely cares about his players. That won't be enough to save his job, but it ought to be enough to persuade you to take a respectful tone and understand that failure in business does not equate to moral or ethical lapse.

I couldn't agree more. People are getting so emotional about yesterday's loss that they can't see the big picture. This season is lost, putting an interim coach from this staff in place will do nothing for us. The best scenario is the same as the worst case scenario - which is that they start winning and potentially get Jerry to go cheap and back the interim coach as the new head coach next season. Half-ass rebuilding is part of the reason that we are where we are at this point (not getting rid of Hurney at the same time as Fox).

The only reason JR should logically fire Ruvera this point is if he thought there was a legit HC candidate on the staff....wanting to evaluate them.

Fact is that neither Chud nor McDermott nor Dhula are legit candidates. Therefore, let Ztuvera ride out the season and then send him packing us the intelligent and logical thing to do at this point.

I agree that he should be fired. We just don't have anyone on the staff qualified to take over. That's why the saints looked so bad at the start of the season

the saints were in better shape to turn things around because they had a solid system (on offense anyway) already in place and a solid internal core with brees kind of at the helm.

that kind of thing happens when you have the benefit of being in a system for that long and brees has years of experience in the role of a leader to draw from.

as much as i can't stand them or payton, he did set it up pretty well. they may not be as good as they have been, but they are still very dangerous and doing better than us.

we just don't have what it takes for this team to do well on it's own. as bad as things are now...it would be much worse without a committed coach.

we wouldn't be close in any game. there would be no fight. there would be no point and as much as that sounds like the kind of team pantherstrain wants because awesome draft pick or whatever...that is death to a team and players would be taking discounts to try and get away.

people just aren't being rational when looking at this picture.

A locked out offseason year 1 and now having to straighten out personnel which has been here for most of 4 seasons...from the previous coach and GM... Not a fair shake in my opinion and the defense is looking incredible the last 5 weeks minus the final drives.

Not a popular opinion but most just think a new pulse will actually give some of these players one.. The offense not scoring more than 14 points is what is essentialy what is letting the team down.

With this said I think Rivera is done here. As painful as these losses are at least the team is going all out for him...2009-2010 were the two most depressing most unwatchable football ive ever seen...Rivera came in and made football fun again in 2011 which is why everyone is so butthurt that he cannot seem to elevate the team as a whole in 12. Oh well..
