T. Thomas out 2 Months.

The Charlotte Bobcats announced today that forward Tyrus Thomas is expected to miss approximately two months after an MRI revealed a second-degree strain of his left calf muscle and a tear of the plantaris muscle, a smaller muscle that assists the calf in plantar flexing the ankle.

No surgery will be needed for the injury, which Thomas suffered during Saturday night’s game against Memphis.

Be fair guys. He wasn't lighting the world on fire but he was decent enough off the bench. I am disappointed as the next guy about how his time here has turned out especially as excited as I was when he arrived from Chicago, but a hand off the bench that can board and block shots is never a bad thing to have around. Time for Hakim Warrick to step up.

It's a shame that Thomas got hurt. Although he will never live up to his potential, or what we gave up for him (future 1st round draft pick) he was still a solid contributor off the bench. He would come in and make some bone-headed, head-scratching decisions, but he was athletic, could hit a mid range shot (although very inconsistently compared to years before), and block shots. However, Hakim Warrick is the better offensive player and is just as athletic as TT, maybe more. If the front office would not have traded Carroll for Warrick, then we would be in trouble, but since we have a pretty darn good front office at this juncture... we need not to worry.

Would we really be in that much trouble? Hak hardly plays. It's nice to have him and I really liked the trade but I'm not sure we'd be in much trouble.

I think that we would be in a little bit of trouble, as we would have no front court depth. Without Thomas and Warrick, we are looking at Biyombo and Diop as our backup bigs. Of course you could slide MKG over to the 4 once in awhile, but he's a much better player at the 3. Thomas actually gave us 18 minutes a night of solid overall production (although his scoring numbers, especially percentages were pretty low, even for him). Warrick can take those 18 mpg that Thomas was getting and provide even more offensive production (although he won't provide as much rim protection).
