Have you ever Found Money that you didn't know you had?

A few months ago we had a yardsale and made about $600. We were selling stuff to get us ready for our move. Well we got into our house and recently I was unpacking and found this stash of money. Lol, $600 is a lot to stash away and forget, I know! With the move and packing and everything else going on we just forgot about it.

Anyone ever found money?

I got a statement on my yearly tax breakdown thats included in my mortgage back at the first of the year. Only when I first got it I just glanced over it threw it in a filing cabnet and never thought about it again. I just happend to pull it out one day about 4 months later and realized there was a check down at the bottom for $450 dollars.

Every time I wash clothes I usually find a quarter, maybe even a dollar on occasion.

When my 7 year old got sick we had to fly him to John's Hopkins from overseas. JH were great but also said "we need $15k up front." So luckily I had $15k available on my credit card. When your kid is dying you pay first and worry later.

Given all the stuff the did I figured I would get another bill.

4 months later I got an 8k credit on my card. Just in time for Christmas.

Also found $50 in Charlotte Douglas on the ground one time

i bartend and throw all my change in a jar so it just sits there in my mind as an inaccessible entity, and then when i'm good and ready i "find" that cash i didn't know i had and go spend it, usually on airline tickets. i paid for a trip to peru last year, and i just bought flights to and from panama for january.

Found a $100 on a driving range once...I was only 14 or so at the time, so I thought I had hit the jackpot.

I was riding with my friend down a very busy main road in downtown Spartanburg when I saw a folded up bill of some kind in the middle of the road. I told her to stop the car, and she pulled over. I risked life and limb and ran out into the busy four-lane road to pick it up. It was a $100 bill! Tried to share it with her, but she said I saw it and took the risk to get it. Cool.

There is some website that locates money that may be owed to you but foget what it is called. Think it may have been posted on this site a couple years ago. Anyway I decided to give it a shot and there was $350 from an old insurance company I used years ago that was owed to me. Had a check mailed to me a week or so later.

in Canada you know, we have the one and two dollar coins...know as the loonie and the twoonie. This act of throwing your change in the jar really adds up quick with those in there! My wife and I spent a week all inclusive in Mexico just on a few months of her tips going in the jar when she was still working as a waitress.

Bouncing around the west coast, I had accounts with Bank of America, Chase, Pacific Marine Credit Union, Navy Federal Credit Union, Winward Community Federal Credit Union, USAA.

When I decided it was time to close all of them except for Navy Fed and USAA, I was shocked to find out that I had 3k from the DOD for my travel expenses through the years in my Chase account (That's where they put it!)

It was right before Christmas so It was really helpful.

I had a lot of those moments. I had probably two dozen accounts across 7 banks. I still get a statement every few years on a CD I started when I was like 17. I always plan to cash in on that before the term starts over. I always forget.
