Bobcats draft needs

Captain Morgan

Recommended Posts

I think we look pretty good at PG and SF....I think if Gordon fits in well, we don't have to make

SG a priority.

I'm thinking the best rebounding PF available should be considered most important.

If there is a good center available, certainly, but I'd hate to see us take a project

who can't come in and grab some boards.

I know drafting in the NBA is much different than the NFL, but right now I'm having trouble

finding someone I feel comfortable with as a sure thing rebounder for the Cats if

we're drafting out of the top 3 or 4.

I would agree with you regarding rebounding PF..but I can't help but notice how well Mullens has been rebounding this year. I think it is in large part due to the rebounding and defensive presence of Haywood forcing teams to box out Haywood leaving a seven footer to gobble up boards.

I personally think the 'Cats need to take a Center to replace Haywood in the near future. He is playing well now but is a veteran and father time is undefeated.

That being said, I still think the 'Cats should take BPA outside of PG/SF considering we have two PG's already and MKG at SF.

Right now, being November, it is too early to tell really.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if Cho pulls off some big trade at the deadline in late Feb. It all depends on who we can get at what cap hit and what the other teams want from us. I know most everyone is saying we need to hold back on the wins to get a high draft pick again but what if we can snag a young star from a team desperate for cap room or wanting to rebuild themselves? We also have two 1st round draft picks to throw out there although the Detroit pick appears to be very valuable and is probably coveted heavily by Cho. The Portland pick can never get higher than 13th until 2016 when it becomes unprotected so that one isn't as valuable. The chances of Portland making the playoffs in the next three years is pretty good so eventually that pick will go to us somewhere in the teens. I would rather use it as trade bait.

id tbe ok with us taking another sf/pf type, rather than say a pf/c type. Not saying id prefer it, but I would be ok with it. Long term I actually could see MKG playing primarily at the 4 (similar to lebron/carmelo), especially if he bulks up a bit (which he will). I see Mullens long term as a 7th or 8th man. Thus, being that MKG isnt likely to become a 3 point sharp shooter anytime soon, Id like either the other forward or the center to be a competent 3 point shooter.

At this point in the roster, its not just about position, but about skill-set fit as well. Rebounding is critical no matter what we do.

If we land a top4 my choices are Noel, Zeller, Shabazz and McAdoo.

Anything after that Id go with Tony Mitchell SF/PF North Texas. Then after him I'd go with Steven Adams C, Rudy Gobert C, or Isaiah Austin PF/C.

I'm okay with a "project" player in a big man. We still have Haywood and can take a big guy and develop him behind Haywood. Maybe Adams, Gobert and Austin IMO could be someone like Myer Leonard for Portland.
