Gutter Guard/ LeafGuard for the house

Recommended Posts

So when gutter guard tells you that you need bigger downspouts, are they saying that their gutters clog? :)

I don't know if it's true or not. I was told that a customer called them out because her downspouts were stopped up and they told her they guarantee there gutters not to clog, not the downspouts.

Like I said, I don't know if that's their actual policy or not, it was to me told second hand. If you think about it, they never mention downspouts in their commercials.

Downspouts are more expensive than the gutters- it's just a moneymaker. A typical 5" K-type gutter is equipped with either a 3x4 or 3x3 downspout.

A 5" K-type white aluminum gutter length (10') at the Lowes where I live sells for $6.67. The matching (white alum, same manufacturer) 3x4 downspout goes for $13.37...

Thanks for the post. Good advice.

Here's a pretty good demonstration of what you get with covers. Your gutters are still going to fill up with junk.

In this video they are promoting Gutter Glove, I am not, I don't know what it is. This is a good example of what goes on over the years with regular systems though.

Wish I seen this sooner.

I used to work for a company that supplies all the gutter materials to these guys. Gutter guard, Leaf Guard, etc, etc.

Company is Senox, right off of, highway 85 on Exit 40. It's on Ameron drive. Going towards Charlotte basically.

For the life of me I can't remember if we sold to the general public or not. I'm thinking we did. Actually I believe so because every once and a while we got regular joe's buying gutter material for home improvement needs.

(704) 371-5043 That's their number, talk to David or Eli. Not sure if they are still there. They should be. IF they are tell them Ivan

recommended you and they should help you out. They don't install the stuff though. So yeah. They just sell it. If you were planning on doing it yourself it's not hard at all man. Especially some of these guards, they just snap into place. I kid you not. If you get the kind that you screw it's really not hard. They provide you with the clamps and you just clamp it on the gutter then the guard, screw it in your roof and you're good to go.

Another thing. Since the downspout talk started.

2x3 is your typical house standard size downspout. If you go 3x4 that should help a bit. It doesn't clog as much. Now if you go 4x5 you're over compensating for something... They rarely get clogged but that's industrial sized Downspouts.. you don't need that for your home. You could do it but really, you don't need it.

It's the same principle with plumbing, the bigger the pipe the more that will get through. 1/2 inch vs 3/4, etc.

Honestly cleaning it your gutters 4-5 times a year will save you a lot. None of these guards are fool proof. They just post pone the inevitable which is you getting on a ladder and cleaning the gutters.

Senox was one of our suppliers, been there many times!

Sweet man. What company do you work for? You probably saw me there. I was the only Mexican working in the back and the office. lol.

I used to work for Quality Insulating and Siding out of Shelby. It's been about four years or so, if I saw you I might recognise you.

Yeah, I started working for them back in 09. So I may not have been there. You probably went to their old location close to charlote douglas. They moved up the road in 2010 by N. Graham street.

Man I used to love going to Quality in Shelby because there was a cool spot to eat at called Philly style. Best Philly cheese steaks I've had, in NC that is.
