2009 is Fox's "Put up or Shut up" season....

a little early to tell, but i'm loving what meeks is doing, esp. the attitude and leadership as well as the reaction from the players.

it helps that he had been considered for a couple HC jobs as well.

if it could be someone internally it would help prevent a lot of turmoil.

:iagree:

Either Davidson or Meeks would be a viable option as HC if Fox were to be replaced.

I want to go on record as one that hopes Fox succeeds in getting us to the Big Show. Like another poster mentioned, I think Fox has done all he can to make this team a winner and the players seem to like playing for him. He and FO have done a very good job getting talented players and this offseason, whether anyone admits it or not, replacing a defensive staff that was clearly stagnant. If Fox allows his ultra-conservative and predictable ways to translate to underachievement on the field yet again, I can see him being replaced.

While I like Jeff Davidson, a write up sometime back in the Rock Hill Herald by Darin Gantt suggests the Panthers would go with a defensive-minded HC, and since Meeks has been considered for numerous HC positions around the league in recent years, I can see the Panthers promoting him if needed. As you said, if the energy and attitude he's brought to the defense translates to major improvement on the field, he would deserve it IMO.

I am not totally sold on Cowher to be honest, and Billick has never lit my fire. Marty I would assume will not be back, and Gruden, is well Gruden.

Fox will be here for at least 2 more years, IMO unless we completely fold up and the players give up on him.

P.S. I would love to have seen us bring in a really good DC if we were thinking of replacing Fox. I would rather promote from the inside.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yada, yada, yada. Once again, Fox is on the hot seat and he will be next year and the next and the next and the next...

You see where I'm going with this? Fox has NEVER been on the hot seat and isn't this year. Why can't you understand that?

You need a nap. :D

I have never been totally impressed with his Indy D's...

What has always been the knock on that side of the ball in Indy?

What must you be able to do in January and in the playoffs?

the issue with Indy's D is the fact that they had all of the salary cap tied up on the offensive side of the ball. They were built much like NO....offensive team. What he did with the talent that Indy had on D was very exciting.

i doubt that....

every coach should feel a little pressure EVERY year. This is a business, not a charity. I am sure Richardson has a great understanding of that.

Oh, I agree, Jerry has a great understanding of football. That's why I question the validity of Fox on a hot seat...

And I wasn't ranting at you personally. That was just expressing a frustration that the Fox/hot seat threads show up every month or so. It is #3 in popularity right behind Peppers and Delhomme...

Their all world offense underperforms drastically in the playoffs vs their regular season performance while their defense usually plays about how they did in the regular season if not better in the playoffs (I am talking points allowed/points scored). That is the big problem with Indy in the playoffs. And it predates Meeks and Dungy. The year Indy won the SB the defense allowed 6.3 points fewer in the playoffs than their regular season average while the O was merely scoring at it's average. So it took the O actually "achieving" their norm and the D playing lights out for them to win the SB. This is a good agrument why defense....wins...championships and I hate huge passing #s offenses/teams built around QBs/primarily on offense.

They way it's gone recently, he needs two bad seasons in a row to get the boot. He just had a great one so he can go 6-10...maybe even 5-11 and keep his job.

6-10 or 5-11 he is gone faster than a 16 year old in a ***** house!:auto:

    • How good would the Colts have been if they traded for Bryce.  Richardson is wasting a good line and quality receivers.
    • And this was with Derrick Brown having an all-time great season at DT also. Maybe this scheme was done right in Denver, but it hasn't been done right here at all in 2 years, with or without personnel. I'm willing to cut Canales some slack bc he was right in benching Bryce and has helped him develop into what looks like a guy who can be here long-term, and Dan Morgan has vouched for him too, but it's so hard to think about bringing him back after the all-time disaster this year was. Continuity be damned. Hope they are right though. This could be a playoff team with the 2nd Half of the year offense and an even average defense.
    • Re: Cam As you could probably guess, his personality didn't initially mesh well with the no-nonsense special forces guys, but they respected his performance in the challenges and he's been a good "teammate" to some of the others on the show. FYI: Also appearing this season is Golden Tate, who per his own words seems to be kind of lost in his post football life.
