It makes me sick to think of this

but we've only been blown out twice...this year anyway.

it's all good.

right?

ugh.

Well, you can look at it that way, but I don't think that's what teeray is saying... we've been competitive in every game except the Giants game and the Broncos game... and even in the Broncos game, except for one boneheaded INT and a slip up on Special Teams, we could have been in it.

Yes, we are not playing great, but not everything isn't gloom and doom either. Did any of you expect to have a defense like we have? I sure didn't...

IN my original OP I am not even referring to the close losses. I am talking about the two games that I think it is fair to say that we should have won dictated by what actually happened in the game.

That is why I was saying we probably should be 4-5. I didn't make a big deal about the fact that we could be 7-2 (which is true)

All I am saying is that if we just had those two games back we would be in a position to possibly still sneak in the playoffs. Not sure why that is unreasonable or unrealistic.

Just give me those two games back!!

Re-read your own posts.

We have a handful of players who are better at what they do than our "one man". Take a look at the roster and figure it out, It's really not that difficult to do.

So we have several players better than our pro bowl QB? Like who? What games did they win for us? Can I have some names?

There is nothing flukey about fumbling the ball when you are trying to run out the clock, throwing an interception for a touchdown, or giving up long game winning drives to the opposing team. That is just playing badly.

So you think a fumble that pops back a yard when it would have been a first down, then giving up a hail mary pass and giving up a game losing drive that hasn't happened in 20 years in the NFL isn't flukey. Or a WR falling down on a route that resulted in a pick 6 is not a little bit flukey?

Umm... okay. To each their own. But IMO there is no way we should have lost those two games dictated by what happened in those two games. And IMO it was unusual circumstances that allowed that to occur.

i expected the defense being much better. i expected top 15 with potential for top 10. i expected that the defense would have the turnaround the way the offense did last year....and people let me know how ridiculous an idea that was quite often.

what i didn't expect was the regression on offense, esp. to this extent.

I disagree and I don't see how a team that is a TD away in each game from being 7-2 instead of 2-7 is not close. We have several flaws and I am not saying that we are SB contenders. But I don't think we are as terrible as many of you think we are.

You can make this argument for any team. Wins come down to 3-4 key plays per game and you either make those plays or you don't. The Browns could easily be 4-5 or even 5-4 if they had eeked out a win against PHI, IND and maybe even BAL who they played tough and lost due to the pick 6. But nobody is arguing that they are a good team.

Superbowl teams will always have several games they barely won.

A good team doesn't have a crap safety get beat by Matt Ryan.

A good team doesn't let the Bears drive the length of the field

I don't disagree with that which why my OP was making the argument that if we just had the two games that we should have won dictated by what happened in the game we would be in a position to possibly sneak in the playoffs despite how poorly we have played.

I was conceding the DAL, SEA, and TB games even though it would be true that we could have won those games.

I am just saying I wish we could just have back the two games we should have won.

so you believe one player can win a game or games? but noooooo he can't possibly fumble and lose one either? dude, you have officially checked out here lately. one of our many problems is he is trying to make this a one man show.

I didn't really know what to expect with the D... I expected Beason to have a big impact (instead turns out its Keuchly) but the play of the D Line and esp Hardy and Johnson has been far beyond what I thought they were capable of.

I did not in any way expect to see the offense struggling so mightily... I continue to blame it on coaching and Chud changing from what was so successful last season.

Same as last year. Had the Packers, Vikings and Saints (remember Rivera Timeout before the half??) against the wall and couldn't close. Seems like the bigger issue is the team doesn't yet have the culture that get's these wins. The staff needs to learn how to win these games.
