Calm down about Cam

I find it sad when the best thing your QB can do, is run. (I listend to radio commentary on the game yesterday, and one of them said he wanted to see Cam run more) -_- By the way, Cam is a straight line runner. If he has to change direction, it's like a freight train trying to make a right angle turn.

Athletic QBs don't succeed in this league. Cam has skills to become a great QB, I see him as a pocket passer anyway. Anyone who's watched Cam, will tell you he is a pocket QB with speed. Yet I've yet to see that want to from Cam. He seems perfectly fine trying to win like he's won at Auburn. Just on pure athleticism.

Manning was constantly stepping up in the pocket to avoid a defender. Just because he knows hot to elude the pressure, doesn't mean there was none.

Its a lot easier to step up in the pocket when your interior linemen aren't named Silatolu, Hangartner and Byers. Having a pocket also helps.

I havent seen Cam call out protections, identify the blitzer or anything like that at all this year. What is the reason for that? Is it just that he is too dumb...or is it something the coaches just dont allow. And how about an audible every once and a while?

Been wondering and asking this myself

Any QB in the league can make the passes when there isn't pressure and the wideout is wide open. Unfortunately, those plays are rare in this league. Good QB's make the passes when there is pressure and when there is less room to put the pass.

Manning had plenty of pressure yesterday, he just knows how to move in the pocket and throw off his front foot.

Not that you point is not well taken, but it is extremely unfair to compare Cam Newton to Peyton Manning at this point on really anything.

Also, how soon we forget about Peyton "happy feet" Manning that he was called his first 5 years in the league. He was terrible under pressure the first 4 years of his career.

These are the types of things Cam will learn in time. If you expect him to look like Peyton you are kidding yourselves and expecting too much too early.

Cam was sailing a good number of his throws in the warms-ups before the game. Others were on lazers. However, as I was watching him sail balls suring pre-game, I thought there was a good chance that it was going to be a long day....and it surely was. Cam did indeed face a lot of pressure yesterday. At the same time, there were a number of times Cam was holding onto the ball for 4 and 5 seconds while the pocket collapsed. That is to say....WAY too long. I'll admit that I am perhaps, over-reacting, but after yesterday-- I seriously question whether or not Cam can be an above average QB,

Honestly, I can only remember a couple of plays where I thought a receiver was open and Cam should have hit him rather than running or taking the sack.

The kid is a project QB with a huge upside. He can make every throw, and runs as well as most RBs in the league. And he's a mountain of a man to boot. Put him in situations where he can succeed early in his career. The rest will come with experience. We're asking him to do too much too early - he ain't ready to pick apart defenses like Drew Brees, or maneuver in the pocket like Marino/Manning.

I have faith in this kid, not only because of his physical tools, but because of his incredible work ethic and deep desire to win every game.

Give him time. Baby him along a little for now. And in another year or two, this young man could perhaps be the best player in the league.

It really terrible that some of you guys want cam so bad you are willing to tell yourself anything. the fact is that he is an immature kid that makes a ton of terrible decisions. does the o line suck yea, does our running game suck yes. is cam gonna be the goat as you like to say no way not even close. in five years he will be struggling to be a back up somewhere and we will still be trying to find a franchise qb. and yes I wish luck would have entered the draft no maturity issues there.
