DUH!?! Its the Offensive Line Folks!!! The Quarterback Is Scared For His Life! We've been here before Panther fans. Don't blame the QB this time!

We can't even run the friggin ball! All of a sudden DWill and Stew are garbage too?!? Pffffft.

Yes Cam Newton gets a pass, A BIG PASS.

game manager with the freedom to run when he sees a hole.

the problem is, i think he's a gunslinger. i love gunslingers...when it works. i hate game managers...unless it's necessary. gunslingers don't always fit into the game manger mold anymore than game managers can fit into the gunslinger mindset.

Legit concern. Henning tried that with Delhomme in early 2005 and the results were awful. Once they let him go back to being what he naturally was, things got better.

Understand the notion. Just not sure it can work.

An offense's best friend is it's Oline.

A young QB's best friend is a running game.

The Panthers have neither.

Some of it he brings on himself, he does not get stepping into the pocket and if it's not there throw it away...or if you are going to run run...don't think about it...do it.

My biggest concern with him is he seems very detached from his team mates, very detached from his coaches and this isn't a 'me' game. A strong coach would not tolerate that. That too, is part of the problem. Things seldom go the way they are suppose to in life, pick yourself up, put your big boy pants on and move forward. I do not know if this is something that can be taught or not.

Speaking honestly, and this pains me as I wanted him here, I have not one belief that would ever make a play to help get the Panthers in that game yesterday.

He gets his rookie contract and if he is no better, in the Not For Long League, the Panthers will move on.

I trust the new GM will hire the coach to do the evaluations.

Three years just like any other rookie. If he doesn't show improvement by then, we move on.

Even then, Peyton and Eli Manning had their regressive years in their 4th seasons.

I mean if Cam actually regresses further next season then maybe you start thinking about other options, but if he has a season like this season then you continue to develop him into his fourth year and maybe bring in some competition at that point.

And although he isn't playing elite level QB yet, he isn't playing like absolute garbage either. He is still likely to have 20+ total TDs (passing and rushing) and complete @60% of his passes. Truth be told he has just been pretty average this year. But IMO he hasn't been bad enough to start doing a bunch of had wringing over. YET.

I really want Cam to just sit down, and let Anderson come in for two reasons. One, Cam needs to sit down and learn something. I want to see how he reacts to that. Two, I am (probably the only one) interesting in seeing what Anderson can do with this squad. I know for sure we won't be running any garbage read option play with Anderson in there. So having Anderson in there will force Chud to change up his crappy playcalling. With Anderson being a mature QB, we can let him run the full offense.

The problem is with the landscape of the NFL, everything has to happen RIGHT NOW. Think back 4-5 years ago, when you drafted a rookie QB, he didn't have to start. You'd have a vet and ease the rookie in. Now? If you draft a rookie in the first round 9 times out of 10 he's the new starter.

Cam exploded last year and held up a team with a horrible defense. This year? Teams have adjusted and the PANTHERS (not just Cam, but yea he's a part of it) have not adjusted. They are paying almost 90 million to RBs they don't use. The offensive protection is pathetic, and the QB and receivers are extremely inconsistent.

If you want to win in the NFL, you need to run an NFL offense. We are NOT running one. Cam isn't getting a pass, he makes some bone-headed throws, and his mechanics are off. But if you can't see the big picture you're a bit lost here. We have no base run game at all. Even New England with Tom Brady can throw the ball 50 times, but even they have a base run game. Its pathetic coaching.

And I if you cannot protect the QB, you WILL NOT WIN. Period. Did Cam hold on too long a times? He sure did, but go back and watch that game. There are times where he never even has a shot in hell. Its brutal. The entire offense needs to be shut down and built back up. We will never win with the current scheme they are running.

I don't even understand what Cam would need a pass for. He shouldn't even be in the discussion on how to fix the team at this point.

When you look at the things that have changed from our top 5 offense of last year vs. this year, the top thing is the scheme and the plays. Not the QB.

Nobody thinks that Stewart and Williams suddenly started sucking because they only get 68 yards. That would be a silly thing to think, when it's so obvious it's the result of the playcalling. And it's equally silly to blame it on Cam.

i

if he wants cam to stay he's gonna have to 1)pay the man more than any QB out there and 2) put a team and coaching staff around him that will win and make him want to stay (which should be happening right nw anyway).

why? what has cam done to deserve a big paycheck?

By that time the Pats will be looking for a replacement for Brady. Think the Pats would spend a bunch of money on Cam?

I think the biggest problem here along with the O-line being horrible is Chud's play calling. I mean why the hell do we keep trying to throw the ball downfield so much? Our O-line was getting destroyed and Chud is still calling plays that take way too long to develop. We need to take what the defense is giving us and stop trying to force what is not there. Our first touchdown drive of the day was the perfect formula for that defense, use their aggressiveness against them with swing passes and screens and make them change. I want Chud gone now!
