Our defense is really good right now, still does not mean it cannot be just as good or even better under a different regime.

Plus is McDermott really running the defense? Rivera was hired because of his incredibly good defenses in Chicago and San Diego, so if I were to pick which of the two were running the defense I would lean more towards Rivera than Mcdermott. Remember he was run out of Philly for blitzing too much(ala his mentor) and no being able to field a good defense despite the talent they had.

He's just butthurt that you didn't start a topic slobbering over Cam.

They are playing like a top 10 defense currently.

Considering how long they have been on the field this year, one could argue they are the reason the Panthers have been in any games at all. Hell, the offense and special teams allowed nearly as many points as they did yesterday.

Why do you have it in for the defense? Aren't you happy they look like a legit NFL unit, unlike the offense?

If we're playing like a top 10 defense, what was Denver's D playing like yesterday?

You guys lowered their expectations last year because they sucked so bad and want to act like they're playing great even though they dont beat nobody. Top 10 defenses win games even when their QB is off. Top 10 defenses dont give games away on final drives to mediocre QBs. This is the defense that struggled stopping Curtis Painter last year, and made Matt Ryan look like Brett Favre this year.

Top 10 defenses win games even when their QB is off. Top 10 defenses dont give games away on final drives to mediocre QBs. Big difference, we held an on fire offense to 13 pts until garbage time.

Held an out of sync train wreck to 7 until garbage time. An offense that has consistantly been held to under 14 pts this year.

Are you arguing the stats that prove they are a top 10 defense are wrong?

How many turnovers did they force yesterday? How many extra opportunities did the offense have? Did they capitalize?

Top 10 defenses can make up for a mediocre offense and win games.

Top 10 defenses do not win games when an offense is completely impotent.

Im not sure the the resurgence of the Defense is in part of McDermott or of Kueckly. Even though we did have 1 sack and 3 overall forced fumbles, It feels like we could have done more to Manning. I didnt see us once bring the blitz on manning it seemed like.

They didnt play well enough to win or get to Manning, so again, irrelevant. What they do doesnt matter. If our QB turns the ball over once, its proven, their efforts just arent good enough. 1 win in 2 years is a prime example of "lowering your standards". Next we'll be bragging our kids brought home C's instead of F's so they deserve praise.

I feel in 2 years, having 1 win under their belt is not great or even good. A top 10 D that nobody fears. So we're on par with the Bears? Texans? Giants?
