Williams defends Jake

Pro Bowl, Super Bowl, multiple NFC Championship games. He could get a starting job anywhere in the NFL. There are hundreds of pro prospects but NFL caliber QB's aren't that easy to find. Jake has been battle tested and by now has seen almost every NFL defensive package and trick out there and he just got the OK to audible from the new OC.

For a chance to get to the playoffs I'd rather have someone like Jake unless we've acquired an elite QB like the Bears did. This is no time to rebuild, plug and play only. #89 won't be around for ever the clock is ticking and I don't know how patient he'd be with a mere prospect QB at this point.

Speaking of facts Panther55....your stats that make Jake look like a great QB mean nothing to the publics preception of him.

Fact is...if he were as good as your stats indicate- then teams, media, and fans all over the US would recognize him as a great QB.

No one is scared of Jake, no team was drooling for his contract to run out so they can sign him....how come?

I won't try to speak for P55 because he does well on his own but not one of us who defend the fact that he should be the QB has ever said he is some superstar. We say that overandoverandoverandover ad nauseum. He isn't an elite carry the team guy. No one thinks he is. NO ONE THINKS HE IS. NO ONE THINKS HE IS! Where do you get this stuff? Do you think you could find one post of P55's where he says all that hyperbole you accuse him of? I doubt it. All he said is that Jake had this many games that were sub par, this many that were good and compared that to other QBs who everyone thinks is great as a form of reality check. How is that saying anything but what is the truth? What's sad is when people dislike someone SO MUCH that they can't be objective about their play or give any credit at all and when someone does that they think the guy feels the player is some superstar instead of good, or competent or whatever they really said, which leads me to....

Fan opinions on how good a player is are mostly baseless. See the Pro Bowl FAN voting for proof. You and I and anyone else have no idea what would happen if his contract ran out and no team official would publicly comment on wanting a player under contract anyway unless he wanted to get in trouble with the league.

Why do you care so much what public perception is of this team's players is anyway? The freaking media, who are paid to analyze the NFL are rarely right about FACTUAL things about teams. Why would sundry fans not of the team be more valuable opinion wise?

You know whose opinions matter? His teammates' and coaches'. They believe in him. That is the only thing in the whole situation that matters.

The reason we go round and round is because you constantly try to stir things up and say things people aren't saying.

Look at my post and see where I said Jake was great. You won't find it. What I said were the facts nothing else. I was merely pointing that for example Brees was considered great and Jake wasn't but in terms of bad games or inconsistency Jake had fewer than Brees. And that was something that has been said about Jake.

The reality is people see what they want to see. The facts remain the same regardless of perception. Perception for many becomes reality but it doesn't make it so.

When you let the facts inform your opinion instead of emotions, you will agree with me and stop arguing. Until then, carry on.........

Jake is an average QB....not horrible ...not great.

He is a "good enough" for our style QB.

Bottom line...if your not saying hes a "great qb" ....then why do you want him here?

I have dropped the Jake thing a long time ago, but some how he always comes back up. I dont bring on these discussions either. Guess cause its the off-season and we had minimal activity it keeps rearing its head.

Since I didn't say any of those things I expect you aren't talking about me.

FWIW I don't think I would take Jake over Brees either. (Don't tell SaintJ that though). Never said he was better, I said that perception wasn't reality and used examples to show it. Jake is a perfect eample of how facts can change perceptions if people allow themselves to see reality instead of create their own.
