I never wanted them. I always thought they would look odd with our silver helmets.

Glad they finally did this but I'll never understand the desire to have a black helmet. No team in the NFL changes their helmet other than a throwback. No team that goes black changes their helmet to black.

And FWIW, for those complaining about the socks, NFL rules mandate that the player's socks be white from the top of the shoes to the mid point of the lower leg.
