2012 Los Angeles Lakers Thread

Gasol has made it clear he wants to play where his status is more stable. I think a feasible trade would be with MIN where he could play with fellow Spaniard Ricky Rubio and in turn we get back UCLA alumn Kevin Love.

I will never say never when it comes to Mitch, but I'm not sure if we could do a Gasol for Love swap. It would be amazing if we could, although I would miss Gasol a bunch.

Love was hurt this entire season, his value is nowhere near what it was before the start. Also he's made it known that he has no intention of staying in MN long term if they don't make a playoff push, so while unlikely, it wouldn't be entirely shocking to me.....

If Pau is moved, personally I'd rather go for bad expiring contracts paired with 1st round draft picks.

In 2014 the Lakers will have virtually no contracts on the books unless Dwight signs long term.

We'll need youth, and have a total salary cap number to spend in the FA market.

I still can't get over this Kobe injury though... hard to think about basketball right now, but it looks like we're going to be signing Andrew Goudelock.

Drew Goudelock has been lighting it up in D League...was on the D League All Star team. It will be nice to see the guy hopefully get some playing time.

Yeah I was always a fan of Mini Mamba and wasn't happy when we kept Morris over him (or CDR for that matter).

Sucks for Kobe, but works out great for Laker haters who can somehow use a Players ruptured Achilles to try and twist a knife in Laker Fans backs.

You stay classy as always.

The butthurt is strong with this one. My point was that your excuse for LeBron winning last year was that Derrick Rose was hurt. Now I bet it will Kobe being hurt.

I would have been much much happier with Kobe and the Lakers losing in the playoffs with him being on the court.

so I actually watched some of this game last night...someone please tell me how the hack a Dwight isn't an intentional foul every time? if the refs called it as such, my understanding is they'd get shots and the ball??? been a while since I've watched much NBA. it's fricken embarassing to watch when some idiot runs all the way down the floor to grab Dwight.

    • Auburn literally could've had 20+ fouls in that half. Hate playing teams like this. They picked up 5-6 quick ones then like always happens the refs start to get whistle shy not wanting to call a foul every possession and they start getting away with murder. The way they call the games encourages this type of play. If they keep fouling just keep calling it.
    • I think last year actually set him back.  Our interior online was one of the worst I've seen.  Combine that with Frank archaic system and about 10 other things and then Canales comes in and implements his system regardless who the players were. A lot of coaches think their system can work with any player and don't do any or as much as they should with tailoring it to fit the player.  Canales admitted that pretty much in our first game but when he scaled it back and Bryce still looked horrible so he was benched.  That move right there is one of the big things that has sold me on Canales.  I judge him based on what he's done since he was renamed the starter.  I probably need to give him a little more rope because it probably seemed in his first game like it was just like last year.  Another new coach with his system and Bryce just went along.  Both the coach and the player are adapting to each other and I think that we are back, baby!!!!  It's just like Drew Brees and Sean Payton except without the mole and the butthole lips.
    • This is why I hate playing hackathon teams. They get away with half of theirs because of ref whistle fatigue then they notice the foul count discrepancy and then you start picking up ticky tack bullshit to even the count on the box score.
