And if that team fails to make the playoffs, or goes down in flames in the first round, you can be fairly confident that Mike D’Antoni is going to lose his job — especially if it is one of the key factors in determining whether Dwight Howard stays or goes when he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Check that, change fairly confident to highly confident.

Please, please, please, please!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Injuries and one of the worst coaching hires in the history of the NBA have completely derailed this team. Just a little over a week to go till this nightmare is over and D'Antoni is back on the couch where he belongs....

I'm not so sure Jim Buss will admit his failings.

Besides, Antonni signed 3 years with an optional 4th didn't he?

How much more money is on Mike Brown's contract.

The Lakers only hope is Jeanie Buss sucks some magical dick and Phil returns free of charge.

Meanwhile, Jackson is having a good chuckle at all of it. (As he should be.)

I don't see any way MDA is the coach next year if the team doesn't back into the playoffs. The fans won't allow it, they would be calling for Jimmy Buss' head on a pike out in front of Staples Game of Thrones style....

So this is the value of good ownership, eh? Hire a new coach next season and won't that be three HC's that's on the payroll for the 2013-14 season?

No good ownership would have been putting the right man in the position to begin with and not trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Mike D'Antoni was the WORST fit possible for this team, but little Jimmy Buss let his ego get in the way of hiring the best fit for the personnel (either Phil or Shaw).......

Haha yeah, that's what I was getting at. I thought it was fuging retarded not to hire Phil after he pretty much said he was down to coach another season. The Lakers have been an elite organization since... well pretty much forever. And throughout all that they always had a great owner, now we're seeing how quickly things can fug up in one year of poor ownership. They're essentially going to be getting 1 coach for the price of 3 next season (assuming they fire D'Antoni).

But honestly though, and I hate to say it... it's the Lakers... they might hit a rough patch or two, but I don't think they will stay down for long. It's really not in the NBA's best interests to field a bad Lakers team for an extended period of time.

    • Auburn literally could've had 20+ fouls in that half. Hate playing teams like this.
    • I think last year actually set him back.  Our interior online was one of the worst I've seen.  Combine that with Frank archaic system and about 10 other things and then Canales comes in and implements his system regardless who the players were. A lot of coaches think their system can work with any player and don't do any or as much as they should with tailoring it to fit the player.  Canales admitted that pretty much in our first game but when he scaled it back and Bryce still looked horrible so he was benched.  That move right there is one of the big things that has sold me on Canales.  I judge him based on what he's done since he was renamed the starter.  I probably need to give him a little more rope because it probably seemed in his first game like it was just like last year.  Another new coach with his system and Bryce just went along.  Both the coach and the player are adapting to each other and I think that we are back, baby!!!!  It's just like Drew Brees and Sean Payton except without the mole and the butthole lips.
    • This is why I hate playing hackathon teams. They get away with half of theirs because of ref whistle fatigue then they notice the foul count discrepancy and then you start picking up ticky tack bullshit to even the count on the box score.
