Your opinion: how long will Cam be a Panther?

Recommended Posts

Simple discussion. How long do you see this marriage between our current QB and our organization?

Serious responses only if possible. I want to read a few and then I will respond with mine once I am not on my phone.

Weren't you just banned?

Whoever used Brees as an argument, he was in SD before NO. As for Cam, if we win and become an elite team he'll be here until he retires. If we continue to flounder as an organization and sleep through season after season either he'll get the itch to play somewhere else, or the fanbase will get the itch to replace him.

I foresee a Favre type ending. Ride with Cam until he hits 35 or so, HOPEFULLY win at least 1 superbowl with him, although in 12 years I expect no less than 2 or 3. Then he gets old and retires, comes back, plays for a couple teams, then retires again, only to come back for just one more season, where he gets to the conference championship and loses the game in the final moments, pick six.

Calling it.

To the end of his rookie contract and however many franchise tags they wanna put on him. But then Cam is taking his talents elsewhere

This would mean that he turns down the huge multi-year contract that we offer him at the end of his third year. Athletes don't do that. Given the option between 1 year guaranteed at $5.5M and 6 years at say $9M a year with a $20M signing bonus, you take the long term deal.

Unless Cam completely shuts down as a QB he will be here a while

SD Brees wasn't the Brees we know in NO. Not even close. I wouldn't have called him a franchise QB at SD. Average starting QB in the league, but now a franchise QB.

Look at the Cowboys. If they could part ways with Romo, I'm sure they would. But, it's just not that easy to replace a franchise QB. You could do a lot more harm than good.

They need to part ways with him but would you believe they're looking to extend him.
