Donating Plasma

I've done it.

Durham American Red Cross facility. Probably 6 or more times. I did it when my MIL was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and chose that to be my little bit to try to help others fighting it.

You must make an appointment and have time to spend. Appointments can last quite a while 1hr to 2hrs depending on how packed they are that day and if something hasn't gone awry.

It's really like giving blood EXCEPT...they hook a line to draw your blood out of one arm. They then put the return line in your other arm. Good veins help. The apherisis machine extracts the plasma and platelets from the blood and it's returned with a saline solution. You will get cold because the returning blood isn't as warm as when it left. They cover you with blankets to keep you warm. You get to watch a movie while it's going on.

The last visit I went was a bit of a nightmare. 1) they were late getting me back 2) the machine they hooked me up to first had a malfunction and had to switch me to another and then 3) they transacted my return vein and something felt cold on my arm. She pulled the cover back and I had a balloon of returning saline/blood growing under my skin. She immediately shut everything down and pulled it out and worked on the balloon to slowly absorb/dissipate. At that point...I was 1.5 hours in and she sent me home saying that sometimes you just have to take the sign that it's just not happening today.

They'd give you a free lunch voucher to Honey baked ham store around the corner.

I haven't been back since. I do give blood at work whenever I catch them.

I'm looking at it for a few bucks, I'm out of options.

Hell, I'd sell drugs at this point if I could.

That's why my friend did it as well. It got to the point that his wife was forcing him to go but wouldn't do it herself.

If you can, try to avoid it man. I considered it at my lowest points before but couldn't ever go through with it... I know you said you spent some time in Fayetteville JOAT, and the only places that did it there were either located at the trashiest places on Bragg Blvd. or back off Eastern Blvd. Obviously, a lot of drunks and addicts would go in there...

Job went away.

I really don't have any other options, finding work has been a real struggle.

I live in Salisbury but would probably go to Charlotte to do it, the place I looked up actually have a job opening for a position I'm qualified for. That doesn't really mean anything as I don't normally apply for jobs I'm not qualified for...

Ever thought about selling cars? Not that hard to get on board and can make decent money pretty much instantly.

I thought about it but my biggest problem is being on my feet a lot. My cousin is selling cars in Wilmington and doing quite well, I just don't want to get into something and have to quit because I'm not physically up to it.

Go to red ventures then, good company to work for...I did and made good $$ selling ADT security systems over the phone..if you have no sales experience you should still be able to get on in some capacity
