Former NY Giants GM Ernie Accorsi Hired To Search For Panthers GM

Ross is the next profile I'm writing. After that, Omar Khan, then Kevin Abrams and probably Doug Whaley. I'll be checking Accorsi's history for other connections too.

From what I've read on Ross so far, he has zero cap management exposure. That worries me a bit. He'd need to bring someone along with some experience there.

i wouldn't mind us going back to having one guy handle the cap and another handle personnel decisions.

Is it still a possibility to bring in a Cap guy also?

Glad we hired someone this early. It gives him plenty of time to find the best canidate for the job...

i'm just glad we hired someone with a respectable team and not the browns or something like that.

this guy comes with enough clout and respect as well as enough knowledge within the league to get a good hire.

having JR outsource this was a brilliant idea.

Give me a football guy at the top and a contract/cap guy below him.

We need talent, and need to know when to let it go just as much.

Me too.

Absolutely.

That's an ongoing debate.

I would much rather put the priority on getting a quality "football guy" to be the final say in personnel and then complement him with a cap guy than find a quality "cap guy" and then complement him with a football guy. I'd assume it's fairly easy to find a cap expert... Not so much when it comes to finding a guy who can accurately evaluate talent.

we have a current cap guy? i thought that was hurney.

No No we have a guy who specializes in squeezing out some room after Hurney's deals.

I won't assume to know if he greenlights contracts before hand or simply told H-Dog that "Thats going to fug us 4 years from now" and then has to fix the problem later.

I'm of the mind that we need to hire both a GM and a Director of Player Personnel. My dream combo would be Abrams and Ross, but I'm not expecting that.
