If RR gets poocanned, what happens to the Defense?

Defense is playing well, got it. 4 weeks seems to be a decent gauge but for me I want to see where we stand as a defense as a whole. Game 1 to 16.

Rivera has made some really bad decisions but he is also a newbie Head Coach. Though he has said he backs his decisions. I would bet if he had the opportunity to do it over he would have done it differently.

I am of the belief that McDermott has as much to do with the defense as Rivera. Firing Rivera and Keeping McDermott would be OK with me.

Ron's job should be based on whether or not the team improves, not necessarily on the record. So far, the team hasn't improved, at least not overall. The defense is better, but the offense is worse. But we still have trouble beating good or even decent teams during crunch time. If that improves, then he will likely be able to stay.

I am and have been behind this staff since day 1.

I love me some RR and McD right now and B. Murphy isn't doing bad.

Chud.......................that's a whole nother story.

I really think the players have bought into his system on D and are rocking it.

I want to see these guys with another year under RR.

I think its pretty clear RR stands up for himself when he's called out in interviews about a questionable call, but always takes the criticism to heart and changes from it. basically every game this season he doesn't make the same mistake twice (going for it on 4th & inches, long FG, playing tight coverage vs. soft on final drives) it's the same way he handles personel decisions. Sometimes he over compensates but at least he doesn't completely have his head up his ass. He's a coachable coach I think, he's willing to make changes and fix things if its proven to him that they don't work. I think he really believed in the offense and that it would turn around until the hurney firing showed him that he wasn't gonna have as much time as he thought.

Losing him would worry me most of all because we just had such an awesome draft and I feel like he had a big hand in that. If we can keep grabbing guys like Alexander and Norman in the later rounds then we could really start building something great here. Like people have said, he's an evaluator type and that's huge for us.

Dump Chud, hire Norv as OC, and send Ron to coaching camp with Belichick this summer.

what happens to the defense? guys will end up having to learn their 2nd or maybe even third defensive scheme in, what, 3 years?

yeah, that's a recipe for success.

it might be necessary if they haven't turned things around, but i don't like it.

instability is never good for a team. having to keep learning new schemes is bad as well. it might be something that they can pick up and make successful right away, but more than likely the learning curve will end up taking another 2+ years to grasp.

one thing that's obvious around here, theres no patience and if there's any struggle to grasp or adapt to the new system or if there is any struggle at all, fans will start bitching and calling for the new coaches head.

we can either stick with a system and coaching staff and allow the players to grow in it or keep on flip flopping systems and coaching staffs until we find one that can bring immediate success.

If the fan consensus is to keep the Head Coach, I believe JR will keep the head coach. The new GM has an opportunity to give Rivera (one last chance) in a lame duck season, with no responsiblity by the new GM. If Rivera fails, the GM has the opportunity to get his own guy, at which point, the new GM has his named attached and bound to new HC.

Rivera, of course will need to show drastic improvement, and win pivotal games down the stretch, which I think he can do. If we beat the broncos this week, I believe fan morale, team morale, and JR morale, will all be at a peak.. it would be hard not to be endorsing a 3rd year for RR at that point.

When was the last time a new GM of a losing team didn't go out and hire a new coach?

What he said.

If we're really going to turn a corner and hire a good GM, you let him choose if he wants Rivera or to grab someone else.

He will probably want someone else.
