Starting to see an Identity...

It's interesting how one win can completely change peoples attitudes toward the team. The days leading up to the Redsins game the attitude was as negative as towards every aspect of this team as I have ever seen. Now people aren't calling for every coaches head in every thread and instead of discussing the top draft pick are referring to playoff runs.

I think that is the definition of manic.

I agree and I am so glad the read option isn't the basis of our run offense anymore. If they can work in some more pro offense style run plays and play action pass plays along with bootleg pass plays we should really see our offense start to hold their own too.

I think that this was the reason that everybody was so flat. Look at Cam's demeanor in those early press conferences. Also, Charles Johnson's reaction when they fired Hurney. The philosophy has changed from bend don't break on defense to aggressive play. On offense, we are running a decent pro-style offense. That is what people were afraid of with Chud. Nobody was scared of that read option crap. We have road grader line-man and good backs. Like you said, when you roll with the play-action after gashing them on the ground it keeps teams off balance and the offense will get to eat too.

I've started to wonder whether Rivera didn't have the ability to truly motivate guys while Hurney was here.

Perhaps guys knew they could run crying to Hurney and/or Richardson, but Hurney's firing changed that.

It's all theory, of course, but it kind of makes sense.

this is what I think as we'll. Hurney was everyone blankie. I think it goes back to the leadership issues as well. Our vets honestly are satisfied with losing because its what they know. Hurley around meant things would be the same.

We have less franchise guys on d so you are seeing the change their first. On O I think we need someone to step on steve and gross before you see the O respond similarly. When your "vets" all point to the second year an instead of stepping up it says something.

I've been as big of a negative nancy as anyone about this team, but I agree. It's not just any identity that pleases me recently- it's a toughness of mentality that seems to be emerging within this squad. We seem to have a bit of an attitude/ a chip on our collective shoulder. I hope it's not just a mirage that will fade away on closer inspection.

Playing with confidence is great.

Making plays and beating a somewhat wounded Redskins team wonderful.

Beating playoff caliber teams that lead to Ws, priceless.

The Panthers aren't priceless yet. Beat 2 good teams at home over the next 2 weeks and things change.

Lose, and the Panthers and this board are right back to sos.

I'll hope for the best but wait for results before i start annoiting Ron.

the "identity" everyone sees looks more like confidence to me. Glad they finally found some. Probably all they were missing.

Nah. Don't remember this type of ferocity last season...guys are different. Example - Hardy.

I've been a Hardy hater. Something was added to their Cheerios for sure

I think this thread topic is right on.

Our defense seems to be coming together....considering everything that has happened with

the d line and linebackers, in hindsite, we couldn't have expected what we have now in the

first few games.

I hope what's happening is that we're learning how to win. It's not a big deal to beat the skins,

but there is hope in how we did it. We won on the road, Cam didn't try to carry the team, we executed

all the way through the 4th quarter, and we didn't make too many mistakes/penalties.

If that keeps up, we can expect some more wins, and building on that momentum, change the culture.

Whether it was due to the Hurney firing (which it probably was)...or some other factor.....the past couple of weeks there has been a major attitude adjustment with this team. I've stated in some other threads but the emotion and intensity has been taken to another level. Its being reported guys are staying late to get more work in...showing up on off days to work...I mean this is what it takes in order to change the culture....

The DLine has been lights out in terms of getting after the QB...what 10+ sacks the past 2 weeks? Thomas Davis continues to lay lumber on opposing players...Kuechly has been the x factor in changing our defensive play...Norman talks the talk and walks the walk up to this point...hell even Rivera is finally not scared to cuss out Captain on the sideline....

Being that we are 2-6...I think the important thing the rest of the way is to build and to continue creating this identity because frankly there has been nothing up to this point but a bunch of soft trickery confusion offense...time to pop some fools in the chin...send some QB's flying into the crowd...Defense lead the way...all the way

I think job security will do that to you too :-) The axe fell on Hurney, and everyone is like "ok stop f**ing around". Whatever the reason though, I am loving it. Gentlemen, we have a defense...We're getting close to that 2002 defense

<raising hand> Guilty!!

I will try to do better, but I live vicariously through this team and to some extent, the Huddle.

On the other hand, I have been told I get along with others and I am good at multitasking but lack the necessary skills to progress to upper-level management. I have risen to the level of incompetence.

Yes, I am manic. :)
