Kuechly is third in the league in tackles

He is a very bright guy and a realist. I think he realizes his worth in the league has dropped after the injuries and he has to earn it over again. I do think he would restructure.

yeah, that would be a tough pill to swallow. the market just wouldn't be good for him elsewhere because of the last couple years. the demand just wouldn't be there to warrant a contract anywhere close to what he has.

i hope you're right and that he does. i just hope that the new GM sees value to the team in keeping him around.

i just looked at the stats and holy balls chad greenway is killin it

He's played one more game than Kuechly. Kuechly's averaging 13 tackles a game since he took over at MLB (52 tackles over 4 games). If you add that to Kuechly's total to get an "apples-to-apples" comparison, Kuechly would have 90 tackles to Greenway's 94.

another stat. we have the worst punter in football. On top of that, I think there's a lot of punter roiding up that leg as there's like 4 that have over a 50 average which is INSANE

Another stat: Kuechly is on pace to reach 185 tackles at the end of the season, from since he started at MIKE. Cmon I been waiting for this thread. Gotta put more thought to it. lol

it would cost us more to trade him next year than to keep him. someone mentioned before how he should study tape of derrick brooks and try to be that type of player, and i agree.

<--- big time Keek supporter since Day One.

Exactly, and I am glad that we drafted Kuechely too, hes who I wanted.

Is he the DROY right now? This award is usually a numbers game but there is without question the defense has been affected by him taking over the MLB.

Johnson & Hardy have suddenly blossomed into one of the best DE combos in the league since Luke stepped in.

This.

Luke is the prototype for MLB in the NFL now. A lighter, faster MLB to keep up with the passing game. In fact, Lewis is at his lightest he has ever played at, 240, just over Kuechly at 235.

Not that his weight mattered. Ray Lewis ran a 4.53. He was a lot more of a "freak" than people realize.

Why do people criticize the Urlacher comparisons so much? I don't know why people jump to the conclusion that people are only comparing them because he's white. Not saying its been the case this thread but I'm just talking about in general. I'd compare him more to Urlacher than I would Lewis personally. Just looking at their measurables and watching them play, Kuechly and Urlacher are identical in their play style. The only key difference is Urlacher is tall as hell for an inside backer but Kuechly's still 6'3 (Urlacher is borderline 6'5).

Besides, it isn't like being compared to Urlacher is a bad thing.

zod, since you know beason better than anyone here...you think that beason would restructure?

i think that's about the only way we keep him around.

he's a very valuable commodity and huge in the leadership department. he makes for incredible depth at Mike if needed and could provide for one incredible rotation among the LB corps. i think statistically he's played better on the outside than on the inside and i remember some saying he was better suited for it. i'm not sure about that, but i think it would be a shame to let him or any of the other LBs go.

Beason is a must have. At the right price that is. Same with Gamble. Get those two back and healthy and we are a better team.

To add to that bolded part. It would also give Rivera 4 quality LBs for that hybrid 3-4 he loves. Which our Dline is proving to not be needed.
