NC HS QB ejected for Newton superman touchdown celebration

If you don't understand why kids should not be doing corny end zone dances, I am afraid this country is worse off than I first thought.

I can't even imagine sitting in the truck with my dad on the way home after doing that at a game. Good lord that would have been a nightmare.

Supporting touchdown celebrations is ruining this country?

Hyperbole much?

His actions were very much "vigilante". His emotions got the best of him, he had an "I am God" moment and ejected this young man because he was upset that he scored on this other team and did his cute little dance afterwards. So he went overboard and made it about himself. He made himself bigger than this HS game by his actions. Had he not done what he did, we wouldnt be here talking about it right now, the kid would've got a 15 yard flag, and life would've went on. But this ref wanted to be the star, he wanted to reaffirm his beliefs on the world. And this is what you have.

end zone dances are only corny to people who cant or dont dance. Don't wanna see the guy dance? Stop him from getting the end zone. Ejecting this young man from the game told us a lot more about this ref than it did this young man. Vigilante justice is wrong.

No what it tells us is the young man cant follow the rules of the game.

Nowhere in there does it say "eject players immediately for unsportsmanlike conduct". It simply gives a description of what it deems unsportsmanlike. Most HS referees who arent headhunting young men would've gave this student athlete an unsportsmanlike penatly and kept it moving. This referee wanted to reaffirm himself. Its that important to him.

I can agree that the punishment was excessive. A flag would have sufficed, hopefully the coach or parent would have explained to the kid why its a stupid thing to do from there.

Kid breaks rules and makes the game about himself = ok

Ref following protocol = making the game about himself & = wrong.

LOL at peoples "logic"

I think it should have only been a penalty honestly.

FWIW my son always does a little celebration after he scores in soccer, and so does the other striker....no one ever really says anything.
