Delay of Game Penalty

They were right in holding up the offense because they subbed in a player, but they were completely wrong in letting the clock run while they did it.

There's a reason they have to blow the whistle to start the clock after moving away from the ball on plays like that. Maybe they were trying to 'make up' for the Williams TD, even though that was a premature whistle blown by the ref.

It was like they hired a bunch of ACC refs for the game or something, pathetic.

We made substitutions and they had to hold it up so the Redskins could do their subs. NFL rules. It was fair and we should have called a TO.

Can't blame the refs for that one

Sure you can. That's not how you apply the rule though. You can't allow the lay clock to keep running when the ref is under center blocking the snap.

EDIT: Well according, to Mike Pereira, a delay can happen in that situation. It's just strange that they wouldn't hold up the clock.

We don't have to call a timeout to allow the opposing team to make substitutions...the refs are supposed to stop the clock. Can, should and will blame the refs for that one.
