Draft Position

Anyone else feel that draft position should be thrown out of a payer's bio after the first or second year in the NFL?

Seems like it never works out to the team benefit.

If a first round player is playing well, it's expected and rarely mentioned. He is just a solid player.

If a later round or undrafted player is playing well, it's always mentioned... Yeah but he wasn't drafted we can't count on him really.

If a first round player is a bust, he is kept around far too long "you can't cut him, he was a first rounder and may come around eventually"

Once the player has started on this team for a season, draft position is no longer relevant.

absolutely and after a couple years i don't care how he was acquired. the only thing that matters is that he was.

it actually doesn't really bother me if, say, a DT that was drafted in the 3rd round gets put behind a DT that was a UDFA as long as we got someone solid to do the job.

sure, it sucks that an early draft pick was more or less wasted, but i would rather us start someone with a later draft position because he happened to be better than the guy we selected earlier than starting a guy just because of when he was drafted.

    • U Might wanna stay overnight  used to live in Raleigh…last time there was a 4pm game on the Sunday after thanksgiving, it took me over 7 hrs to get home…normal post game drive  2.5 to 3 hrs .after that game, got  home at close to 2am Monday…85 to 40…nightmare …
    • Well darn, some garbage time stats on a last second possession let him stat pad a couple of completions. LOL
    • Writing him off? No, but I never thought he had the mental makeup to make it on the NFL. When he ran into the stands to ugly cry in mama's arms... I mean, good lord. How fast he ran to mama was how fast I would've ran away from drafting that guy after that. That was just the icing on the cake for me. Watching him hold the ball forever was the major flag on the field and it's a hard one to fix. He wants a home run on every play and he's still doing it.
