deangelo williams will not be traded

Recommended Posts

I'd be sick if we took anything less than 2nd for him. How can Gantt or anyone else speak in absolutes about the future of Williams, when we will have a new gm and more than likely a whole new coaching staff heading into 2013?

Hell the article even states that the 9.6 million dollar cap hit would take its effect against the 13 cap. His scheduled cap hit for 13 is 8.2 million.

I personally just can't get behind the idea of trading him. I would understand it more if we planned on keeping this current coaching regime but I just don't see that happening nor do I endorse it.

I don't think there is any way we are getting a 2nd rounder for DWill.

Here are his last 3 seasons:

A 2nd rounder is not justifiable.

A 29 year old RB that is past his prime with 1400 rushing yards over the last 3 seasons doesn't equate to 2nd round pick.

I think MHS is more on target with 4th-5th rounder.

I know his stats and I even posted them with proper context in this thread. Look at his yards per carry and TD to fumble ratio. The dude is still a damn good home run threat for us and people are overlooking how easy it would be for us to restrucure his contract and by doing so we would save more money than we do just by trading him

btw, 1400 yards over the last 3 years is not anywhere close to correct..

Still, he's 29 years old, and next year will be 30. RBs typically fall off a cliff after 30. TD to fumble ratio doesn't mean much.. Ben Jarvis Green Ellis' ratio is probably higher than DWills. Restructuring would only benefit us if we wanted to keep DWill, which I think, clearly we do not.

Add it again, 1407 rushing yards to be exact.

your counting 7 games as a full year and 2010 where he only had 87 carries. That math is flawed. I only see that kind of math used in politics not sports.

Thats still 4.7 ypc and if you use the same time frame then Stewart is still getting less yards per carry at 4.6.

Per the Associated Press, DeAngelo Williams is not expected to be traded before Thursday's 4pm ET deadline.

With the deadline just five hours away, there's reportedly "nothing shaking" in Carolina. Of course, a lot can happen in the 11th hour as teams submit their final offers. ProFootballTalk has already reported that the Panthers are willing to take the cap hit that would come with trading Williams. Stay tuned.

If the Panthers run a traditional run/pass offense like they did in the Chicago game and start utilizing Williams properly with Stewart and Tolbert, then our offense is extremely strong. The poor part of the Chicago game was the red zone play calling and again that falls on coaching. Not to mention the 4th quarter meltdown where a pass play was called on the 20 when we clearly needed to run the clock down with our highly paid RB core.

Fire coaches and find some that can coach our all pro backfield. I'll be very happy if both RBs make it to 2013...I just don't want to see Williams cut and we get nothing...that would SUCK!

http://espn.go.com/n...mind-trade-talk

Read this article regarding a possible trade of DW. The section that concerns me is.....

"Does it look like I want to be somewhere else? I'm going to let you guys (in the media) answer that," Williams said. "I'm going to leave it open for discussion. I'm going to try to get my Twitter followers up. ... It will be disclosed at 4 p.m. Thursday, so stay tuned. It will be breaking news at 4:05 p.m."

My issue here is the fact so many "Fan" are asking for the release or trade of DW, SS, Beason, and so on that they do not stop to look these are the same players that we had under Fox that were considered some of the best in the NFL. But under the current staff are no producing. Yet "fans" try to blame the players more so thant the DC, OC or HC.

Give me a frigging break. The only rebuild we need right now is a staff rebuild. there was a big reason why I wanted Jim Harbaugh. We all knew he was an Offensive minded coach. this is an offensive driven NFL now. He was also responsible for the development of good QB's in Stanford. He would have been a better coach for the players we have and for our 1st round pick "Cam" than RR.

Now think about that. what he has done with a QB like Alex Smith. Now think what he could have down with Cam Newton. Marty needed to be fired. it was his job to bring in the best coaching staff they could get and carolina never made a play for Jim Harbaugh. We settled for a coach that has had several interviews for HC jobs but never hired. To me that says a lot right there.
