Haven't been able to find much on him other than that his responsibilities were logistics related, not football.

Reed was calling him the interim GM from the beginning. Gantt said it wasn't so. Right now, I don't know how seriously to take this.

Trust me its no big deal at all.

Pretty significant that just a week after Ron Rivera holds a presser stating that "the buck stopped with him" and that he essentially had all the power to do what he pleased with some insight from the scouting department, that now they remove him from that position of power and formally name Mr Beane.

Interesting in the fact that we lost another game due to horrible coaching and a horrible game plan that was obvious to anyone who watched us kickoff the entire game. Ron Rivera is a lame duck coach. He lost his job last Sunday in Chicago of all places ironically enough.

Does this mean that Beane will be the successor to Hurney. Absolutely not. What this is, to anyone who really follows this team is a GiANT FUG you to Ron Rivera by taking the power one week after they gave it to him. We know it and Ron surely knows it after a move like this. He's done in Carolina regardless of what he and his staff does from here on out. Only question that remains is this....

Is he man enough to swallow his pride and take over as our DC next year if*** he's asked to do so. I know that this is rare in the NFL, but this could be a possibility moving forward. Time will tell, but one thing is for sure Ron Rivera will not be the HC of the Carolina Panthers next year.

Beane is referred to only by the 'director of football operations' title that he already had. It mentions 'expanded responsibilities' but there's no mention of an interim GM title. The article also specifically states that head coach Ron Rivera holds the tiebreaker vote in personnel decisions.
