Cam's Footwork in Pictures

Yea like Fiz mentioned, his screen passes are just poor. It's never an easy catch for the RBs and it just throws off the timing. I think a lot of times screens are meant to be thrown off your back leg because your allowing the DL to come up the field before throwing it, but he hasn't perfected the screen pass.

But yes his footwork was even poor last year. I really do think that because he is so strong with his upper body that he can sometimes get away with stepping into his passes. But many times it makes his passes go high and off target.

Also, I would like to see him step up in the pocket when it's presented. I have been noticing he doesn't do that as often. So when the defender gets to him, he has no choice but to hurry and quickly throw it off his back foot. Not every throw needs to be a bullet, but that comes with timing as well.

I am the first to acknowledge that Cam has poor footwork, but is it really fair to use this throw as an example? It seems pretty clear that he's on the run in this picture.

Are QBs not supposed to utilize good mechanics when throwing on the move? You would think that would be the time when it is most important. Proper technique for throwing on the run is something they teach even at the lowest levels of football.

I think we all know Cam needs work on his footwork when throwing. As far as him coming out from center, he's fine and has done it hundreds of times. He only trips when an inexperienced o-lineman (read Hangartner at center, or Byers, or Bell when at guard) steps on his foot.

Like others, I question whether he is getting good coaching.

Throwing off the Blackfoot too much and I dnt blame Cam for it. I blame Rivera and his coaching staffs for doing a poor job developing Cam for pretty much two years now.

Rivera wanted "teachers"? I don't see any of our students learning anything from these teachers. We may arguably have the worst coaching staffs in the whole entire league.

Thus mentality is why those who defend everything about Cam are laughable.

Say that he has bad mechanics....they call you a liar.

Show them evidence of said bad mechanics....they say it does not matter, everyone does it, or it is the coach's fault.

There us an excuse in your arsenal for everything Cam does wrong. It is laughable.

I don't like our coaches either. But Cam has a lot if things that he needs to improve significantly on.
