A shot was a bad word. I meant take a chance on your special teams unit. Giving up good field position on every kickoff takes a toll on your defense. Really in the Bears touchdown drive there were only two significant plays. An 11 yard catch by Marshall and a 14 yard catch by Forte. When the Bears pulled their main blockers and started putting in receivers and tail backs on the special teams unit at least have some faith in your team to make a play on Hester.

If they had kicked to Hester and he burned them you can bet your ass everyone here would be ripping him for it.

If they had been playing tight coverage and Marshall caught a deep ball and scored at TD everyone would be pointing to the Atlanta game and ripping him for letting a receiver get deep.

I think he's a weak coach but it's just getting silly to the point of absurdity here in finding things to complain about.

Why? it worked all day.

I think what your quoting there is the shanked punt possession.That wasn't RR fault.

Here are some other undeniable truths. We started behind the 20 five times that game. Devin Hester has returned 5 kick returns for touchdowns in his carrier. 151 other times he's been stopped. To say that the special teams unit couldn't make a stop when primary blockers aren't on the field is embarrassing. That shows a lack of faith in every player on that special teams unit.

If Hester didn't even return a td or a respectable return against Detroit then I doubt he would have against us. Hester is getting old.

That last minute D was played for a reason, so we didn't give up the deep ball. Should we have adjusted? That might have opened a hole. We were almost getting to Cutler to with just the front four. Maybe Norman should have played up? Maybe we should have brought a safety over or had a LB drop back in that area. We contained the bleeding, it wasn't necessarily a prevent defense.

I'm looking for where this strategy backfired.

the only issue i see is regarding starting field position. we may have gotten into the endzone more had we started off closer on at least one of those drives.

I'm not saying it was the best strategy but people want to bash the coaching now, it's the popular thing to do. We know by now this team sucks but it's become a competition to figure out how to blame every single thing on the coaching staff as if people don't want to pin an ounce of blame on the players for bad play.

They were held to 7 points into the 4th quarter and bad plays by our players blew it. How can that be overlooked?

well...bad plays and bad coverage scheme at the end.

it's the same story every week. combo of bad playcalling and mistakes by players at the wrong time.

no one gets off the hook.
