Soft zone in last minute

Honestly this really is sad. The only good pass pro defense we had last year was a 4 man rush, 2 LB, Nickel coverage. And that was with 3rd and sometimes 4th and 5th stringers. This year supposedly we have corners that can play tight man if not press, and a rookie LB that can cover the middle of the field and we still go to literally our LEAST SUCCESSFUL PACKAGE!!!!!!!!! WTF  i.e.

soft zone with LB's playing 15 yards off the line of scrimmage.

I really don't think the coaches are even watching the game... I heard they are pretty good at madden though, except for chud he prefers NCAA 13.

Guy goes 5/5, but let him try a 51 yard field goal no f###ing way. Fire all the coaches now, I think the players could coach themselves to more wins than this staff.

The Panthers should have won this game. They played aggressive defensive until the fourth quarter melt down, then chocked and started playing that cursed prevent defense. I am so frigging mad that i can't express n\my feeling. What a crock of bullshit, turning an almost sure win into another loss.

been Panther football for season's now and it sure does make it VERY difficult to be a Panther fan. The worse part about it is no matter what your always watching the game just waiting for it to happen, and for sure it always does.

We had a timeout to burn. Call it, regroup. Do they just have no answers?

You are right Zod.

Prevent defense has never worked for good teams much less bad ones.

I just feel sad at another waste season.

I believe those players gave it everything they had today...Smith killed himself earlier in the game to make difficult catches...and slipping causes a pick 6....The Punter kicks 6 yard punt...an then, the prevent defense.

Throwing when they should run and vice versa...sending Newton back in the shotgun when they need less than a yard.

What more is there to say.

This thread is just getting me angry again :phew: Like others have said,,,, they had a timeout left = USE IT, just to stop and regroup. The difference between a good coaching staff and bad one in a similar situation see the Giants/Cowboy game today. Coughlin called timeouts two times in the last ~30 secondes or so to talk to his defense, etc. Rivera just let the Bears go go go go go go go , kick field goal, game over.

not going to defend any coach that wil take the foot off the brakes so often.

he sure talked a big aggessive game when he got hired and he may have been tat way as a DC, but as a HC he's soft and scared.

we need a coach who will keep the throttle wide open on both sides of the ball from start to finish.

    • I don't really like the phrase, "moral victory". I get what's meant by it, but does that mean that if you do the opposite (play poorly but win) it's an immoral victory? 🤔
    • I blame Evero because he is overrated. Vance Joseph created the defense in Denver that he took credit for. Wilks ran the ball down his throat and Darnold had a 103.8 rtg.  Last year we were decent in yards allowed, and horrible in everything else. Only reason? We kept giving up good field position.  He's had his choice of players to bring in since his scheme is so "complicated." Maybe he should stop trying to be so fancy like running Cover 4 on 3rd and 1 earlier and focus on fundamentals like tackling. These years of Eric Washington, Phil Snow, and Evero must have gotten you confused on what a real defense looked like. Go back and watch the McDermott and Wilks years- this dude is sofT.
    • I tried to make it a point in the opening post that I don't think the offense is a finished product. I think we still need more talent at WR, better play calling, catch more consistently, elimate ridiculous penalties,  and be more consistency in scoring points. I'm just saying, they look markedly better than last year imo. They have scored 20 or more in 6 games and 30 or more in 2 games. And that's particularly notable considering they only mustered 10 points and 3 points in first 2 games of this year and they got blanked on 0 points two games in a row to wrap up last season . I'd say that's a market improvement.  I'm not crowning them and saying we have a top 10 offense or anything.  I'm comparing them to themselves in recent history.
