PANTHERS @ BEARS Official Game Thread

Only TD drive that Cam lead was his fumble that we were lucky to recover in the end zone.

We are as far from clutch as you can possibly be.

You just know that there are several NFL teams that would have converted for TDs on all of our drives into the red zone. The Patriots and Giants are the first two that come to mind.

I don't expect TD's on every red zone appearance. But, this offense just can't find that ability to finish drives off.

Part is play calling and part is execution. They are just missing something.

Unbelievable... simply unbelievable. This is the worst snake-bitten team I've ever seen in my life. Nothing goes our way, ever.

This team has a loser's mentality. It seems like even they feel like they are going to blow games at the end. I think that's is the most harmful thing. Until this team get's a winner's mentality and goes out there knowing they will hold onto a win at the end, they are going to continue to lose.

To be honest, I think the new offense helped. the slip by Smith for the pick 6 was a "football thing" That happens.

the Missed catch... maybe the ball wasn't exactly where Smitty needed it.. but it hit his hands and he tried pulling it in and lost it off his knees. that was catchable.

Cam lose'n the ball... yes, he needs to protect the ball better in traffic. But that Defender crushed Cam's forearm with his Helmet and popped it outta there. if he had both arms on it... maybe Cam coulda held on. but that's something that needs to be worked on with him.

LaFell is stepping up. I dunno about anyone else, but I see Lafell as THE threat on the field lately. As Smitty seems to be in a funk. Olsen hasn't been targeted enough, but I think that'll change now without the Read-Option crap.

This is the first week with the Pro-style base. And I think it worked pretty dam well.

But the Defense (as Rivera admitted to) was told to play Soft Zone on the last drive. No pressure, just keep the ball in front, and don't get beat deep.

overall I don't think anyone really blew the game minus Rivera and the no FG try going into the half, and the Defensive coverage call he made at the end.

the rest was pretty dam good.

But maybe that's just me. I see it more a coaching issue than a player issue now.

they all busted their asses out there and then to only let it get under-minded.

I mean, BTW, that last drive by the Bears was their worst starting position all game if I recall (their own 22) and they still made it down the field. It wasn't because they out played the defense. (as you said they stepped up big all game) but, to later learn it was Rivera's call to play that way... *gunshot... foot starts bleeding* yeah... that.

Yo Chris...I 100% agree with you that the offense did look better yesterday and that scheme is a definite move in the right direction.

I am just saying that we are in one of those mental funks right now where we are expecting something wrong to happen...expecting to lose the game. Close late game and in you head pops....oh no here we go again.

Like I said, I have seen this many times before. This team desperately needs a couple of late game plays and wins to move past it. The more times you lose late heartbreaking games like this, the harder it is to get out of the funk.

This game would have been huge. On the road...against a great team...defense came to play...controlled the game for 3 1/2 quarters. This is the kind of win that could have really turned this team's psyche around. Instead, it could be the straw that broke the camels back.

I could really see this team half way mailing it in for the rest of the season. They played great and still lost.

Agreed! I think that next week if the Panthers play the same way they played those 3.5 quarters for a full game... and get Smitty involved a lil more (like a TD) and pull out a win... I think it might ease a lil of the hurt, and MAYBE get a lil optimism in the players minds.

But do we as fans want to see wins and progression or give up and draft high?

I myself am not sure.

I am not sure either.

I want to see this team develop like they are capable of. I want to see Cam become the emotionally leader of this team like he is capable of. I want to see the D continue to develop.

However, I also know we are not going to the playoffs and every win is just a lower draft pick. This team needs talent and the overall pick would be nice. There are several very good QB's coming out this year and there are team's that need a QB. The first overall pick could mean 3-4 very good players in a trade.

I am torn.
