Contracts Status?

not a chance williams or charles johnson or even beason restructure.

Cj just seems more about the money than anything.

beason's role is diminishing and he's on his second season on IR so no chance of a big deal anywhere.

williams said he doesn't care about getting moved back to 2nd on depth chart because it doesn't effect # of carries that much and he still gets a check. gets paid for doing less.

it's going to take a lot to get out of these deals.

There are a few where I assume they will be told to restructure or be cut. Like Williams. They will have to pick and choose...Id imagine they will eat money on one or two guys just to move on...

Godfrey will need to restructure or be cut after next year at the latest.

probably.

depending on how the contract is written i could see them going to another team and taking the vet min. because we will still be contractually obligated to pay them if they don't go to a team paying more than us.

i wonder what effect them getting most of their money up front and the main thing on our books is just the bonuses that have already been paid will have.

lol....

Next year Williams will cost us 8.2 million in cap space

Stewart - 2.8

Yeah, but that's deceiving. Williams either won't be here or would have to accept a restructuring to significantly lower his pay and cap hit. Stewart's is a back loaded contract, so we'll be bitching about that one in a couple years.

Both Stewart's and Godfrey's contracts are structured differently than most of the others, and it's difficult to figure out all the implications going forward just with the info from a site like spotrac. But you were right in your earlier post about us needing to do something with Godfrey before 2014, because unless we do, he will count more than $7 million against our cap. That is ridiculous for the level of play he had demonstrated so far in his career.

Edit: Rubi beat me to it regarding the absurdity of Godfrey's contract. I type too slow.

CRA....what hope do we have?

New GM has it rough....but if we hire smart people that are good at what they do it will get worked through.

The contracts paid after 2010 were HORRIBLE. I said it in the offseason. It isn't about 1 in particular but collectively overpaying everyone hurts....especially when your "core" is made up wrong.

Kalil was the only smart one. Beason had some question marks and I don't think you make anyone the highest paid in this sport if you think they have an injury concern.

Charles Johnson. $30 mil signing bonus. $76 mil contract.

The dude has shown up for one game this year...

The guy is at best a number 2 DE...he is not a premier rusher...

I knew how bad the contracts were...but it sinks in even harder when u actually scroll through some of the numbers. It's mind blowing..

What in the hell was Hurney evaluating to hand out that kind of cash...
