Watching GMA this morning, it looks pretty rough in the whole NYC area...

Those media people are such dipshits... they're talking about those horrible fires in Queens, and they break it for "up to date news" and they show this dumb reporter talking about some boat that washed up on the Jersey shore...

I saw a pic of my aunt's and cousin's neighborhood on the weather channel (Stuyvesant Town). I saw a street where I remembered walking last year. Now under 4 feet of water. Crazy.

maybe it's just me...but if every official tells you to leave, and you decide you're too tough to let a storm make you....then you are a selfish fugger and deserve to be left on your own when the crap hits the fan!!!

I guess some people are either extremely arrogant that they can make it or just extremely stupid. Your life is far more important than your car or your house... those things can be replaced. I don't know why some people don't heed the warnings?

I understand some people can't...but I'm guessing there's means in place to help those. when you see people boating through the storm filled streets etc...I'm thinking they had the option and means to get the hell out. They stay and just add to the poo the fire department and cops need to deal with...because you know, they don't have near enough to do!

Yea this is something that I never got either. I mean I get that some folks legitimately can't leave. But every year you hear about some nut thats going to sit on his boat through the storm or something.

Some people are just crazy about their possessions I guess... it's like those guys that JR posted that video of earlier in the thread taking that little boat out that inlet during the storm? F that... I'm gtfo if it's gonna flood.

We stayed thru Bonnie, Bertha and Fran here... but Floyd was a Cat5 2 days out, we left. I will also say that we live in an area that, although the streets flood a little, it is always passable and we don't get the kind of flooding that they got in NO or NYC during this thing... or even what some inland areas here got during Floyd. If there's a chance there's gonna be water in the house, I'm out.
